Lumine: Abduction to Freedom
·
Published 5/25/2023Manipulated by a powerful and wealthy adversary, strong-willed Lumine of the 5th century BCE must outwit her captor and escape a life of coerced servitude, all while carrying a child she did not choose to bear.

The sun was beginning to set. A ringing noise echoed from every corner of the room, and the girl stirred. Her eyes opened slowly, revealing a pair of yellow-brown eyes. Her hair was a beautiful black, with a peculiar emerald green streak running through it. She sat up slowly and rubbed her head, yawning as she did so. A look of confusion was on her face as she looked around the room. She stood up and walked around the room, looking for any clues that would tell her where she was.
"Um... hello?" She said aloud, her voice soft and gentle, not raising above a whisper. "Anybody there?" Still no answer came. She slowly made her way over to one of the walls in the room. As she brushed past the bed to reach it, she noticed a man's jacket lying on it. Her eyebrows rose a bit at this discovery, but she didn't dwell on it very long. The wall had a small window in it, but it appeared to be covered by something, most likely curtains or some sort of fabric. She walked back to the center of the room and surveyed her surroundings once more before opening one of the doors that lead out onto what looked like a balcony. It was indeed covered by curtains covering all but about three inches under them. She pulled one side back slightly and peeked outside through the small gap she had made before quickly pulling back into the room when the wind blew the curtain inward toward her face. After closing this door, she went over to another one in another corner of the room and opened it as well - only this time without any hesitation - revealing yet another bedroom with different furniture and decoration than her own as well as no curtains or blinds covering its windows. When she entered this second room, however, something caught her eye - anything rather - on top of what appeared to be a nightstand next to what looked like another bed in this other room - a bag!
She walked closer to it so that she could examine it better without touching it for fear of waking someone up if there happened to be anyone else in here with her. To her delight, there was nothing blocking access to its contents! In fact, inside were various items including money (which she promptly pocketed), some sort of device with buttons on its front (which she assumed was something like an alarm clock), and even some clothing - among them some loose fitting pants which reminded her how much she had slept in last night's kimono and yukata and wanted nothing more than to change into these new clothes now! However... strangely enough... they were not hers! They didn't quite fit right either! In fact... they were way too big for her! And yet... they seemed awfully familiar somehow... almost as if they were hers! But how could that be? Wouldn't whoever has been sleeping in this other bedroom have left these clothes behind after leaving? Unless... he wasn't planning on leaving them here anymore? And begins packing his belongings?
But wouldn't he have taken his jacket instead? Then again... maybe he wasn't planning on leaving anymore? Or has already left...? Was she really going crazy!? No... this couldn't all be for naught then! She needed answers now more than ever! No matter what happened next... nothing would stop her from getting them! Nothing at all!!
