An Unexpected Swoon: Marley and Skyler's Morning Shift

There was something about that day that I'll never forget.

I was just sitting behind the counter doing my thing, making drinks and serving customers. Skyler was on the other side, doing his thing, checking on me from time to time and helping out where he could. We were chatting and having a good time. It was a very slow day, so we had lots of time to talk. He told me stories about his family and childhood and such.

He asked me about myself, about my life, about my hobbies. We talked for hours until our shift ended at midnight and we were the only ones left in the whole place. "That was great!" Skyler said walking towards me with his hands in his pockets. "Yeah it was," I replied as I cleared off the counters. "We should do this more often." He suggested as he leaned against one of the counters while I wiped it down with a wipe cloth. "We should." I agreed with a smile on my face.

He looked at me and smiled back, but then there was this awkward silence that followed between us. He just kept staring at me, but didn't say anything else. I looked up at him and saw him looking down at me with a soft expression on his face. He moved closer to me and put his hand under my chin so that our eyes met. His eyes were looking into mine with such intensity that it caused my cheeks to turn red and a blush to form on my face. My heart started beating faster as I looked into his beautiful eyes. He slowly closed the gap between our lips together and kissed me softly on the mouth for a few seconds before pulling away.

As soon as he pulled away, he smiled at me sweetly before leaving the shop without saying anything else to me or even looking back once. I stood there dumbfounded by what just happened until I heard the door open again after a few minutes later and saw him walk back into the shop carrying three bags filled with movies in them as well as some popcorn containers. "What are these?" I asked with a confused look on my face while taking them from him to set them down on the counter next to us.. "These are our date." He stated happily as he turned towards me with a smile on his face.

"Our date?" I repeated in confusion before he nodded in agreement with a grin on his face as well as excitement in his eyes that made butterflies form in my stomach.. "Yeah tonight is our first date." Before I could respond, he started grabbing all of the movies out of their boxes and putting them into the DVD player while explaining to me what they are about while putting in each one of them into its own separate slot before turning it all on at once before going over to retrieve two chairs from behind us so that we can sit down when needed as well as some popcorn containers so we have something to snack on during our date night..

He asked what type of movie I like watching most, which led to us talking about movies for hours afterwards while we sat close together eating popcorn while watching movies together like this has always been something we've done often since we first met weeks ago when he first applied for this job.. The whole night went by pretty quickly and before long it was already 2:30 AM..

Skyler asked if I would prefer staying here for another hour or so or if I'd rather go home since it's getting really late now.. After thinking about it for a minute, I decided that it would probably be best if we did leave since if not neither one of us will get any sleep nor will either one of us be able convince our parents that staying up this late wasn't our idea by saying we were working at our jobs throughout these hours.. So after taking off our aprons and cleaning up everything around us including wiping down all of the tables except for one where we both ate our meals next to each other earlier along with wiping down everything else around us including cleaning up all of the popcorn containers, rearranging things around here while placing food items back onto the shelves they came from so that everything looks clean again before turning off all of the lights and locking up before exiting through the front door..

We walked over to Skyler's car after saying goodnight to each other with him giving me a quick kiss on my cheek which caused my heart to melt instantly before opening up his car door for me so that i can hop inside before following suit himself after closing said door behind him before starting up his car and driving us back home where neither one of us got any sleep whatsoever since both of us were too excited about tomorrow's work day seeing how today was supposed to be a slow day but ended up being busy instead thanks to how much customers we received throughout today's shift.. It was going to be interesting tomorrow for sure...
