"I can't do this."

"You can, Caitlin. I need you to."

Caitlin Snow sat down next to Barry Allen as he lay on a hospital bed, looking worn and tired. He had been floating in an icy cocoon of his own body fluids since the accident at S.T.A.R Labs almost a month ago. The doctors said there was no brain activity and that he was on life support only to keep his organs from failing. Caitlin had felt guilty for not being able to help him, but if Barry needed her, she would be there for him. She wanted to be there for him, even though their relationship wasn't always perfect.

"His heart rate is increasing," Caitlin said quietly as she stared at the monitor beside the bed. "We should turn off the sedatives now."

Caitlin walked over to a cabinet and opened it, taking out three small syringes with clear liquid inside them. She walked back over to the bedside and stood over Barry's unconscious body, pushing up her glasses as she looked down at him with a frown.

Barry had been hit by lightning during the particle accelerator explosion at S.T.A.R Labs and was thrown across the room by the force of it. He was immediately taken to Starling General Hospital in Central City, where Dr Wells had stabilised him and put him into cryo-sleep until they could figure out a way to heal his injured body without damaging his brain further when they awakened him. Caitlin was asked to stay by Barry's side while he slept so that she could take readings from his body, but things were different now that the doctors were about to wake him up after nine months of hibernation.

She held one of the syringes in her hand as she looked down at him, feeling nervous about what she was about to do but also excited about doing something so intimate with Barry for possibly the first time in her life. She pressed down on his shoulder, sliding her hand across his bare chest as she leaned over and looked up into his face, wondering how long he had been away from everyone else in the world because of her actions after he fell into his comatose state all those months ago.

She gently felt along his jawline until she found his mouth with hers and softly pressed against it before pulling away again, watching as his eyes slowly fluttered open and focused on her face above him. He didn't move or say anything; he simply stared up at her with a blank expression on his face before turning back towards the ceiling again without saying anything more than a wordless grunt of acknowledgement back at her when she told him that they were going to wake him up now after all these months of being frozen solid in ice like some kind of rare fish caught by fishermen deep in the ocean depths where sunlight never touches the murky waters below.

Caitlin smiled nervously and held up one of the syringes for Barry to see before pressing it against his neck with two fingers, injecting its contents into his bloodstream before removing it again and letting go of his neck, stepping away from the bed slightly before looking back at him again with curiosity shining through in her eyes as beads of sweat began to form on her forehead beneath her blonde hair styled neatly into a bun on top of her head atop her slender neck sticking out from beneath her lab coat draped over her shoulders loosely around her body like some kind of shawl or blanket protecting her against whatever chill might have crept into darkness surrounding them within that hospital room deep underground beneath Starling General Hospital where their work together had caused many strange things to happen since they met several years earlier while working together at S.T.A.R Labs under Dr Wells' supervision back when Barry was still just a forensic scientist instead of The Flash saving people from burning buildings or falling off tall buildings or getting struck by bolts of lightning because he refused to give up trying to find ways to save people no matter what risks he ran himself into every time he ran towards danger instead of running away from it like most people did whenever they saw trouble coming their way instead of standing right beside them staring it down directly like he usually did whenever a supervillain appeared ready to destroy everything around them with nothing but their sheer presence alone threatening every ordinary person walking down an ordinary street somewhere in Central City without warning unless The Flash showed up just in time stopping them before they could realise their evil plans finally seeing daylight again having never known anything different than what they knew until then sitting back down in front of their television sets watching more shows on television because they couldn't think of any better way to spend an evening alone in boredom when they got home after dark after work except maybe watching something naughty once or twice just for kicks when no one else was looking wondering what it might feel like being touched intimately by someone other than themselves instead suddenly finding out later that night when none other than Caitlin Snow unexpectedly decided that tonight was going to be tonight instead because why not?
