Kira stood in front of the mirror, staring at her reflection. Her long, dark hair fell around her face in loose waves, and her hazel eyes were filled with a mixture of excitement and trepidation. Today was the day she would finally meet her mentor.

For as long as she could remember, Kira had been fascinated by magic. She loved to read books about wizards and sorcerers, and she spent hours practicing spells in secret. But her parents had always told her that magic was dangerous, that it was best to stay away from it.

But now everything had changed. In a twist of fate, it had been revealed that Kira herself had latent magical abilities - abilities that had been suppressed by her parents for her own safety. And now that they were aware of her powers, they had agreed to let her train with a mentor.

Kira took a deep breath and stepped away from the mirror. She made her way downstairs to the kitchen, where her parents were waiting for her.

"Good morning, sleepyhead," said Edgin Darvis with a smile. He was a tall man with graying hair and kind brown eyes.

"Morning," Kira replied with a yawn as she sat down at the table.

Her mother, Elara Darvis, placed a plate of pancakes in front of her. "Eat up," she said. "You'll need your energy for today."

Kira eagerly dug into the pancakes while her parents watched with fond smiles.

"I can't believe our little girl is going to be a wizard," Edgin said proudly.

Elara nodded in agreement. "I always knew there was something special about you."

After breakfast, Kira's parents led her out to the garden where they had set up a small training area for her.

"We've spoken to your mentor," Edgin explained as they walked outside. "His name is Xenk Yandar, and he's a very powerful wizard. He used to be a paladin in the service of the Thay."

Kira's eyes widened in surprise. She had heard stories about the paladins of Thay - they were legendary warriors who fought against evil.

Her mother continued, "Xenk will be arriving shortly to begin your training. He will teach you everything you need to know about magic and how to control your powers."

Kira felt a mix of excitement and nervousness as she took in her parents' words. This was what she had always wanted, but now that it was actually happening, it felt almost too good to be true.

Just then, there was a flash of light, and a figure appeared in front of them. It was Xenk Yandar.

He was tall and imposing, with silver hair and piercing blue eyes. He wore dark robes adorned with symbols of power, and a staff made from blackened wood was clutched in one hand.

"Greetings," he said with a slight bow. "I am Xenk Yandar, your mentor."

Kira's heart raced as she looked at him. This was the moment she had been waiting for - the beginning of her journey into the world of magic.

Xenk turned his gaze on her, his blue eyes filled with an intensity that made her shiver.

"Kira Darvis," he said in a deep voice. "It is time for you to embrace your destiny."
