Moonward Adventures: Susan's Regeneration

“Oh, Susan. How I’ve longed to hear the sound of your voice again. Many times I thought that I would never hear it again. But now I am and all is well in the world. Well, for me, at least.”

Ruth could be such a drama queen sometimes. Ruth was also my sister and our mother. She cried every day since Dad died, three years ago. After he died, she had a breakdown but survived it and was doing better these days. When I found out there was no hope for me, I asked her to tell Dad that I loved him and that I needed to go home. I didn’t know how to say those words myself, so I put them in Ruth’s mouth instead.

I hadn’t meant to hurt her feelings by asking her to do that, but she was so happy when she told me what you said that night, Ruth always wanted to do things for me, even when we were just little kids. She still does.

She was always the strong one. She once pushed me out of the way of a car that hit her when we were crossing the street when we were five years old! And then there was the time she saved my life when we were living in France which - oh! Look at that! The sun is rising over the hills! It looks like an orange ball dipped in gold! Or is it tin? I can never tell with those French people. But anyway, look at it rise over the hills with its fiery fingers reaching towards the sky! Even if... no... especially if you have only a short while left on this Earth - here comes the sun!
