Kyama was a man of many fantasies. He had always found pleasure in the thought of being with a woman who was married to another. Maybe she was the wife of a politician, or even a king, but the most important thing was that she was already taken. She would have her own house, her own husband, and possibly even children.

The first time he ever fantasized about a woman in this situation was when he was just a teenager. He had been walking home from school when he saw a woman standing on the corner, waiting for the bus. She looked around thirty years old, maybe younger. Her skin was light brown like his own and she wore an expensive business suit. She had long hair pinned up on top of her head with loose strands hanging down over her shoulders.

It wasn't until later that night that Kyama would realize how beautiful this woman actually was. His friends were gathered together at one of their homes and they were playing poker while they watched basketball on TV. There were three girls there - Chiamaka, Nnenna and Joy - and they were all teasing each other while they waited for the big game to start.

"You must be really lucky," Chiamaka said to one of the others as she held up two pairs of jacks. "I'm going to beat you all tonight."

"Luck is for fools," Nnenna sneered as she leaned back in her chair with her arms crossed over her chest. "I've got cards too."

"Then let's see them," Joy said as she rested the back of her head in the palm of one hand.

The girls continued to argue about who had better cards for several minutes before someone knocked on the door. The guys jumped up to answer it and it turned out to be none other than Ms Popularity herself: Ibukun Agboola-Abasi.

"Hey guys," Ibukun said as she walked into the room nonchalantly. "What are you watching?"

"Not you again!" Chiamaka screamed out before turning and walking away from Ibukun without giving any explanation whatsoever for why she did so. The rest of the girls began whispering amongst themselves while Ibukun stood there looking confused until Joy went over to explain what happened between Chiamaka and Ibukun earlier that week.

"So we're all watching basketball tonight," Joy explained as she pulled Ibukun into the room by her arm so that they could both sit down on the couch next to Kyama, who had been watching Ibukun walk into his friend's house with wide eyes since he opened the door for her earlier in the day. "It's going to be a big game."

Kyama tried his hardest not to stare at Ibukun, but it seemed like every time he started looking away from her then he would quickly find himself back focusing on her beauty once more before realizing what he had done and shaking his head at himself in self-disgust after all had been lost in an instant.

"Who are you watching?" Ibukun asked Kyama after scanning through everyone's faces around her before finally landing upon his own when everyone else refused to make eye contact with her, instead burying their faces deeper into their phones or hiding behind their hands as if somehow such actions could shield them from whatever divine punishment might rain down upon them if they dared stand face-to-face against such a living goddess such as herself for one more second longer than necessary at that very moment in time. "Are you watching basketball too?"

When no one bothered explaining which sport they were actually following that night, Ibukun let out an exasperated sigh before motioning towards Kyama with both hands and saying, "He's watching basketball" matter-of-factly, as if it were obvious enough and there should've never been any confusion in the first place. Without missing a beat, Ibukun quickly added with an embarrassed glance towards Kyama, "Sorry about the mix-up earlier."

Kyama couldn't help but smile at her honest and endearing demeanor. For all her beauty and popularity, she still seemed genuine and approachable, making it unsurprising that he found himself drawn to her. As they continued to watch the game together, his fantasies would fade into the background, replaced by the realization that perhaps there was more to life than desire and imagination alone.
