"I don't know what to tell you, Hank. The kid's a menace. I've had him in my office more times than I can count. He's too smart for his own good, but not smart enough to get by with the tricks he pulls."

Hank Hill and his son Steve were walking back from the bus stop after school. It was the first day of their three-day break. The two were looking forward to spending time together, since Hank hadn't seen his friend Chrischan in over a year. They'd talked on the phone a few times since then, but there was no substitute for face-to-face interaction; at least that's how Hank felt about it.

"I don't know, Dad," said Steve. "I think he's alright. His mom is pretty cool though."

"Well, if you ask me, she's still married to the bastard who knocked her up and ran off."

Steve chuckled as they entered their front yard. A woman was standing on their porch with a cell phone in her hand. She smiled brightly and waved at them.

"Hello there!" she said cheerfully. "Is this where Mr. Hill lives?"

"Uh … yes," replied Hank warily, glancing past her to see if she was meeting someone else too. She looked familiar, but he couldn't place where he knew her from. "Are you here to see Chrischan? Because I think he's out right now."

"Actually I'm here to see you," she said, putting her phone away in her purse and walking down the steps towards them. "My name is Gina Digranatromo, and I'm Chrischan's mother."
