“Harry, I have to tell you something,” Hermione said, her voice trembling as she stood in the Gryffindor common room. “It was me. I was the one who put your name in the Goblet of Fire.”

Harry’s eyes widened and he stared at Hermione, unable to comprehend what she had just revealed. His mind raced as he tried to process the information.

“But… why?” Harry asked, his voice barely a whisper.

Hermione took a deep breath before answering. “I did it to protect you,” she said, her voice filled with determination. “I knew that if your name came out of the Goblet, you would have to face the challenges of the tournament head-on. I believed that you would be better equipped to handle them than anyone else.”

Harry looked at Hermione, his mind still reeling from her confession. He felt a mix of gratitude and confusion towards his friend. He couldn’t understand why she would take such a risk for him.

“You could have been seriously hurt or even killed,” Harry said, his voice filled with emotion. “Why would you do something like that?”

Hermione met Harry’s gaze and there was a steely determination in her eyes.

“I knew that you were capable of facing whatever challenges came your way,” she said firmly. “You’ve proven time and time again that you are strong and brave. I wanted to give you the chance to show everyone else just how amazing you are.”

Harry was silent for a moment as he absorbed Hermione’s words. He felt a surge of gratitude towards his friend for believing in him so strongly.

“Thank you,” he said softly.

Hermione nodded and there was a brief pause before Harry spoke again.

“What about Ron?” he asked quietly. “Does he know?”

Hermione’s expression softened and she sighed heavily.

“Yes,” she admitted. “I told him.”

Harry watched as Hermione’s face fell and he could see the guilt written all over her features.

“How did he react?” Harry asked, his voice filled with concern.

Hermione looked down at the floor and there was a long pause before she answered.

“He was angry,” she said quietly. “He feels betrayed by my actions. He can’t understand why I would do something like this without telling him.”

Harry felt a pang of sympathy for Hermione. He knew how much her friendship with Ron meant to her.

“I’m sorry,” he said sincerely. “I didn’t mean to cause any problems between the two of you.”

Hermione looked up at Harry and there was a determined glint in her eyes.

“I’m going to fix this,” she said firmly. “I’m going to prove to Ron that I’m still his friend, no matter what.”

Harry nodded and there was a sense of determination in the air as they both prepared themselves for the challenges that lay ahead.
