The Courageous Journey of Kelt's Slave
·
Published 3/13/2023In a galaxy where even the bravest of souls face uncertain odds, a brave and ambitious slave embarks on a daring journey for freedom and purpose in search of poetic justice.
The ship was silent. Its engines cooled, its cockpit door was open, and the owner was nowhere to be found.
“Kelt?” I called out, my voice echoing into the depths of the cargo hold. “Kelt?”
The only response was a wispy echo, which dissipated in the stillness. Disappointed and anxious at the same time, I stumbled back up into the cockpit. The room was also empty, with a single bag laying across the floor. The door leading outside was closed with an unusual force. The wind whipped against it, and I could hear some strange movements on the other side, as if someone were pushing against it from outside. I went to open it when suddenly I heard Kelt's voice: “Don't!”
I had never seen him so mad before. His eyes were red, face flushed, and hair disheveled. He shouted at me from outside: “Don't open that door!”
I froze for a moment in shock, but curiosity pushed me forward. My hand hovered over the control panel for a moment before pressing it down. The door slid open slowly and revealed a slew of armed guards standing outside in formation. Their rifles pointed directly at Kelt, who stood defiantly among them with his arms crossed over his chest and one leg bent behind him like he always did when he wanted to look imposing. He seemed completely unafraid of them despite their obvious superiority in numbers as well as weaponry.
“What do you think you're doing?” he asked angrily as I stepped out of the ship to join him, his deep voice reverberating through my body as usual. Then he turned to face me and said more calmly: “Close that door again.”
Confused by his sudden change in mood and worried about what he might do now surrounded by those men, I obeyed instantly without question and retreated back into the safety of the ship with Kelt following close behind me after having glared threateningly at everyone outside for a few seconds longer than necessary while they stared back with equal intensity into his eyes until they finally lowered their weapons reluctantly after he turned around again and walked inside with me behind him until we both reached the cockpit where I closed the door again securely before asking him why he got so angry all of a sudden now that we were alone again: “Err... Kelt? What happened there? Why did you tell me not to open that door earlier?”
Kelt sighed deeply before looking at me with tired eyes: “They were going to put us down like dogs if they caught us trying to escape this planet on this ship. But now we can leave safely because soon some new slaves will arrive here on another ship to replace us after our deadline is over. So let's get off this planet as quickly as possible because we don't want to be here any longer than necessary either even though we won't live long anyway once we're sold off somewhere else on another planet where no one cares about our fate except for those who buy us from our current owners who have just lost everything they owned because they decided to lay out many traps like these all over their land without expecting anyone would try to walk on it except for themselves or their friends."
His words made little sense except for one thing: we weren't getting off this planet right now after all but probably much later after some new slaves arrived here in order to replace us while others took our place instead so that they could go free while we were left here behind them abandoning us on this barren planet full of danger while they escaped elsewhere where they would be happy while they were free while we were stuck here with no chance to go anywhere else because nobody cared about our fate except for those who bought us from our current owners who had just lost everything they owned because they had laid out many traps like these all over their land without expecting anyone would try to walk on them except for themselves or their friends which suddenly made much more sense than ever before since none of it really made sense before anyway... Other than that one thing which made perfect sense now but mostly didn't make sense either!
It was an hour ago when Kelt told me that we had found an engine for his ship lying around in a field far away from everyone else's houses so that he could use it along with several other parts found in various sheds to repair his ship which had fallen apart after crashing onto this planet one night when everything turned dark suddenly around us so that he couldn't see anything anymore till we crashed into something hard which broke everything inside except for himself whom nothing happened to apart from minor injuries and a broken tooth whose pain still lingered in his mouth today while his whole body echoed silently through mine whenever he spoke which only helped amplify the painful silence filling every corner of my soul right now which was suddenly making perfect sense too!
