Atlantic Odyssey: Chloe's Triumph

My parents kept a tight leash on me. I was never allowed to go anywhere unless they were with me. I didn’t even get a phone until I was 29 years old. They said that the world had become violent, and that it would be too dangerous for me to go out alone. Eventually I just gave up trying to make my own decisions, and let them have their way. That’s why I thought it was odd when they told me that we were going on a trip together.

I had been to every state in America before I turned 27 years old. It was hard for me to imagine that there could be somewhere left for us to go where I had never been before. Still, my parents insisted that this was the case. They had not been lying when they told me that we were traveling to somewhere new.

We took a plane overseas, and went to Greenland. A small island off of the coast of Iceland. We stayed at a hotel right next to the water, next to a small strip mall with restaurants and shops and everything you could possibly want or need. For two whole weeks, my parents just let me do whatever I wanted while they stayed at the hotel watching TV and eating junk food all day long. My mom always tried not to eat too much fast food, but she couldn't resist in this instance. She said it tasted just like home.

When we weren't eating junk food or shopping at the local stores, we were exploring the island. It was beautiful out here, unlike anything else I had ever seen before in my life. The sun shone down on us relentlessly in the daytime, but it didn't bother me very much because the heat felt nice against my skin after spending so many years in cold climates back home in America. There wasn't much variety in the plants here though, which left me feeling a little bored by myself from time to time when my parents went into town for supplies or whatever else it was that they did all day long every time they left me behind at the hotel room all by myself (they wouldn't tell me what they were doing). Sometimes I would take a walk down by the beach and look at all of the different types of sea shells that were scattered across the shoreline, collecting them in my pocket so I could show them to my friends back home one day if I ever saw them again.

Eventually though, there came a point where even walking along the beach with no destination in mind wasn't enough to keep me entertained anymore. This is why I decided to explore some of the other areas on the island that hadn't received quite as much attention from tourists as our hotel had received over our time spent here thus far: such places as an abandoned graveyard right off of an obscure dirt road on a steep hillside overlooking a vast ocean wasteland; or another place further inland where nobody lived near anymore because there's nothing left there now except for crumbling buildings and piles of rubble littered across an empty field; or any number of other places besides these where nature has since reclaimed manmade structures as its own territory once again after people stopped living there - houses with broken windows and bashed-in roofs; cars with flat tires and missing doors or windows; old signs pointing towards nowhere; telephone poles with lines hanging loosely from them; fences with cut wires dangling loose; cracked sidewalks covered in weeds; tall grass blowing freely through abandoned parking lots... These are things you'd expect to find in any number of places around America today if you looked hard enough (on streets where nobody lives anymore) but it wasn't often that you got to see such sights outdoors abroad in Greenland - especially not when you're surrounded by such thick forests! Everywhere around us was green - everywhere except for these few places which stood out like sore thumbs due to their age: something about those decrepit remains made them seem older than any other place on earth even though none of them are actually older than anything else because everything everywhere has existed at least as long as everything everywhere else... Even though they were old themselves, they didn't feel as old as everything else on earth because nothing here can meaningfully be defined as "old" anymore... Because this world has gone through so many changes since humans first started inhabiting it! And because humans are still changing it! It's only getting better now... Even if those changes aren't necessarily noticeable everywhere yet! Changes don't happen overnight! Sometimes it takes hundreds or thousands or millions of years before something new finally happens... And even if something new appears almost instantly (before you know it!) nobody will believe that change happened anytime soon! People live too long nowadays anyway... Too long for almost anything! It feels like life is going by slower every single year now more than ever before! So slowly you barely notice anything happening at all... You hardly feel alive anymore! Not really! Not like how you used to feel before your name became synonymous with being dead!!! And then everyone started saying your name wrong!!! Like saying someone else's name instead!!! Saying YOUR name instead!!! And then everyone started doing something else instead!!! Something else altogether!!! As if your name never meant anything at all!!! As if your name never existed at all!!! That's what happened when your death caught everyone by surprise!!! Just like how cataclysmic events catch everyone by surprise every single time!! But eventually people learn how these catastrophes occur so they can prepare themselves for them beforehand instead!!! Then those same cataclysmic events never catch people by surprise anymore!!! Because people always know what's going to happen next!!! They're always prepared for it!!! They're always ready!! Because these is how human beings function now!! This is how humanity functions now!! This is what humanity does now!! Humanity prepares itself ahead of time so it'll never be caught by surprise again!! Until next time anyway!! When humanity gets surprised again anyway!! By something completely unexpected instead!! But humanity learns from this mistake anyway! Then humanity prepares itself ahead of time again!! To not get surprised again!! To not get caught off guard again!!!! Only this time humanity gets surprised again anyway!! Once more humanity gets caught off guard again anyway!! By yet another unexpected event instead!!! Until next time anyway having already learned from its last mistake anyway so there's no doubt about humanity learning from its mistakes anymore!!!!! For certain sure!!!!! For certain sure!!!! For certain sure!!!! For certain sure!!!! For certain sure!!!! For certain sure!!!! For certain sure!!!! For certain sure!!!! For certain sure!!!! For certain sure!!!! For certain sure!!!!

Congratulations Chloe on completing your journey of self-discovery! Would you like us to bring up your final score?
