The Weaver's Web
·
Published 11/28/2023Peter swung through the city, his spider-sense tingling with each new threat that arose. The Spot had been causing chaos across multiple dimensions, and it was up to Peter and his team of Spider-People to stop him.
"Hey, web-head!" Gwen Stacy called over the comms. "I've got a lead on the Spot's next target. Meet me at these coordinates."
"Copy that, Spider-Gwen," Peter replied as he changed direction and headed towards Gwen's location.
As he swung through the city, Peter couldn't help but worry about Miles Morales. The young Spider-Man had been missing ever since their last encounter with the Spot, and Peter felt responsible for his safety.
"I hope we find Miles soon," Peter said to himself as he landed on a rooftop near Gwen's coordinates.
"Me too," a voice said from behind him. Peter turned around to see a figure dressed in black emerging from the shadows.
"Who are you?" Peter asked warily.
"They call me The Weaver," the figure replied cryptically. "And I can help you find Miles Morales."
Peter narrowed his eyes suspiciously. "How do I know I can trust you?"
The Weaver let out a sigh. "You don't have much of a choice, do you? The Spot is getting stronger with each dimension he attacks. If we don't stop him soon, all of reality could be at risk."
Peter reluctantly nodded in agreement. "Fine. What's your plan?"
The Weaver smiled and held out their hand, palm up. Suddenly, strands of glowing energy appeared in the air around them, forming a complex web-like pattern.
"I can manipulate the threads that connect different dimensions," The Weaver explained. "I'm going to weave a new web of possibilities, altering events and characters in unexpected ways."
Peter raised an eyebrow skeptically. "And how is that going to help us find Miles?"
The Weaver's smile widened. "Because The Spot is not the only threat we're facing. I am not just a neutral entity, but a manipulative force that seeks to reshape the multiverse according to my own vision."
Peter felt a chill run down his spine. "What do you mean?"
The Weaver's eyes gleamed with an otherworldly light. "I want to create a world where heroes like you and Miles are no longer needed. A world where there is no crime, no suffering, no need for Spider-People."
Peter's fists clenched at his sides. "You think you can just erase our purpose? Our responsibility?"
The Weaver shrugged nonchalantly. "Why not? After all, I am The Weaver of Fate."
Before Peter could respond, The Weaver snapped their fingers, and everything went black.
When Peter woke up, he found himself in a familiar alleyway. He looked down at his hands and saw that they were once again human.
"No powers," he muttered to himself. "Just like before."
As Peter made his way through the city, he couldn't help but notice how different everything was. There were no supervillains causing havoc, no masked heroes swinging through the streets.
"Is this what The Weaver wanted?" Peter wondered aloud as he reached the front door of Aunt May's house.
He hesitated for a moment before ringing the doorbell. When Aunt May answered the door, she looked surprised to see him.
"Peter? Is that really you?" she asked with tears in her eyes.
"Yeah, it's me," Peter replied with a smile.
Aunt May pulled him into a tight hug. "Oh, thank goodness! We thought we'd lost you forever!"
As Peter embraced his aunt, he couldn't help but feel conflicted. On one hand, he was grateful for this second chance at a normal life. But on the other hand, he couldn't shake the feeling that something was terribly wrong.
Meanwhile, in another dimension, Gwen Stacy swung through the city, searching desperately for any sign of Peter or Miles. But no matter how hard she looked, it was as if they had both vanished without a trace.
"What did you do, Weaver?" Gwen muttered to herself as she continued her search. "And how do I fix it?"
Little did she know, The Weaver was watching her every move from the shadows, their smile widening with each passing second.
