Darrow's Dark Journey

The sun is dying.

The Ancient Ones have returned and with them, the end of the world.

I have studied this sun for countless years, but never could I have imagined such a thing. The sky, once so bright and blue, now is as dark and empty as my heart. It used to be a hallowed place for me, where I could spend hours in contemplation or simply sleep away the day. But it's not like that anymore. Now, it terrifies me. It terrifies all of us. And we can't even see it anymore. The darkness has spread so far now that the stars are no longer visible from the earth.

But it's deeper than that. The darkness goes beyond the sky and into our minds. It invades every corner of our being and causes us to despair. It's painful and lonely in these times and sometimes I think I'm going mad just like everyone else.

But madness can also be a gift...I discovered this many moons ago while exploring the abyssal depths of my mind. In those cold waters, I found something that saved me from insanity - something I call "the gift." And with this gift, I've seen things you people wouldn't believe: worlds ending, great battles fought against ancient evils, heroes rising up to meet their destinies and villains brought low by sheer dumb luck! All of this has been revealed to me in the darkest corners of my mind, where no one else goes because they're too afraid or too stupid to find what I found. You see, when you look into the abyss long enough...the abyss looks back at you! Or something like that!
