Kimori and the Rocketship Bears

The stars glittered in the night sky, a million bright pinpoints of light shining down from the heavens. The ship had just broken through the atmosphere, and it seemed like I was in a car on an interstate at midnight. The stars were so close now!

I was sitting on top of the ship, its exterior cooling system serving as my plush seat. It was warm, and I could feel the thrumming of the engines inside the ship's hull. There was little doubt that we would be at our destination soon.

I couldn't help but smile to myself as I watched the stars zoom past me. I was on a *ship*! True, it wasn't one of those sleek space cruisers that were so popular in the sci-fi shows I used to watch back home (and in fact didn't even look remotely like them), but even so, it was still a real honest-to-goodness space ship.

And not only that, but I had stowed away on it! Just this morning, after hearing news reports of an intergalactic conference being held in another star system (and realizing how close said star system was to my own home planet), I had made up my mind to try and get there as well. My plan? To sneak aboard a spaceship and try to blend in with all the other normal beings attending the conference. That way I'd have my pick of who to travel with when we finally reached our destination, and it seemed like a pretty solid plan at first...that is, until I tried sneaking onto one of the ships leaving for conference, and got caught by security within five minutes.

Luckily, however, some good had come out of getting caught: while being escorted back to my "cell" (a tiny room on board this ship that was more like a glorified closet than anything resembling a prison cell), I stumbled across this massive circular cooling apparatus that stuck out from the side of the ship. At first glance it just looked like something you'd find on any old house or office building back home, so naturally it didn't occur to me what it actually did until I accidentally fell against it. Suddenly, I heard a loud roar as air began rushing past me from underneath, making me realize instantly what it was: this thing must be some sort of air conditioning unit! And if that was true...then maybe there was a way for me to sneak onto this thing!

And sure enough...there was! After spending several hours fidgeting with various wires around the device's base (and nearly frying myself when I accidentally picked up a live wire), I managed to jury-rig together enough parts together to make something resembling a rudimentary power supply. More importantly though, that power supply also managed to do two other things: provide power to all kinds of interesting machinery inside this air conditioning unit (including heating elements and a few fans) and most importantly? Make loud noises whenever its power source ran low...noises loud enough for me to hear them through all these thick metal walls! And if that meant someone would eventually need to open up this machine's casing...well...then they would be greeted with someone staring right back at them instead! And if they reacted poorly? Well...then they probably wouldn't get very far with their lives anymore either way!

Suddenly though, as I pondered over these thoughts about how everything turned out so well after all (despite my initial failure), everything went dark around me. It seemed like something had blocked out the light from above - perhaps it was clouds? Then again...we had already left our planet's atmosphere far behind us by now; there shouldn't be any clouds here at all! What did this mean?

A moment later though, everything went back to normal once more - except now there seemed to be something different about where I sat atop this gigantic cooling apparatus as well. A soft glow seemed emanating from somewhere nearby now - not quite bright enough for me to see where exactly it came from yet still more than enough light for me to know where I should head towards next: towards whatever had cast this glow upon everything around me!

As I headed forward into the darkness though, I began wondering what kind of person might have been responsible for calling up such lights into existence. If they were responsible for bringing forth such illumination into this world too then surely they were someone important indeed - someone who deserved respect no matter who they turned out to be! Perhaps they were high ranking executives here on board this ship? Or maybe military soldiers? Or maybe even mechanics or engineers who worked hard every day to maintain such marvels as these interstellar vessels? Whoever they turned out to be though...I knew already that whoever they are...they would definitely turn out to be special people indeed!
