The Revelation of Lucas

The sun was beginning to set over the horizon, painting the sky in magnificent shades of orange and red as a young man by the name of Lucas strolled leisurely along the shoreline. He had not seen his family in days, but he knew that they would be fine. They were strong after all, and even if they weren’t strong, well... That wasn’t something he needed to worry about. Not for now at least.

Lucas was tall and his legs were long, which made for a very easy stride. He wore a pair of beige shorts and a white T-shirt with black sleeves that ended at his biceps. His skin was dark from tanning out on the boat during the day. His hair was brown and curly, with natural waves that formed when allowed to dry naturally.

As he walked along the beach, Lucas thought about home and what it might have looked like before everyone left it behind. They used to have streets covered with asphalt and buildings filled with people who were just trying to live their lives. Now, those buildings lay empty and no one bothered to fix them up any more because they knew better than anyone that such things were useless out here in the ocean.

The islands were isolated from each other by miles upon miles of water that stretched out endlessly in all directions. There were two major islands in this region; one was where Lucas lived with his family and where most of the people lived, while the other island was a ruin - desolate ruins inhabited only by ghosts of simpler times who haunted its streets every night.

Lucas also thought about how strange this place must seem to someone from outside their world, especially to someone who didn’t know anything about their history or why it ever had to end this way. But then he realized that he himself wouldn’t have been able to imagine it either unless he'd actually experienced it for himself first hand and let's face it - he never would have been able to do that unless someone told him about it first anyway.

So he stopped thinking about it altogether and just kept walking along the shoreline, letting his feet dig into the warm sand as he watched the sun fade away behind the horizon line into darkness. It was peaceful out here at night - especially when there weren’t any storms around to ruin such momentous occasions with thundering crashes and fierce winds that sent people scurrying back inside their homes and hiding under blankets until it passed - which thankfully happened less often nowadays.
