Grundo and Giro's Galactic Adventure
·
Published 3/16/2023Anthropomorphic pilot Grundo Vembe, accompanied by their adventurous cogbeast Giro, embark on a perilous quest across four continents in a distant galaxy during the Middle Renaissance to find an ancient artifact that will save their kingdom from certain doom - but will they succeed in the face of formidable enemies, puzzles, and perilous plot twists that challenge their every step?
'I can't believe I didn't know that there was water on the planet! Why do you think I went to the blue house and not the red one? Why did we spend months looking for it? I mean, I knew because of my dream but still!'
'Grundo, I don't understand why you're so upset. We're here now, aren't we? You need only activate the device and we will spare all of our problems.'
'You just don't get it do you Giro?' Grundo turned away from his friend. He had been trying to explain since they arrived at the Plateau. 'It's not about the water anymore. We have to save the world, Giro. The humans need us.'
Giro could tell that he was beginning to get on Grundo's nerves and decided to let him have a moment alone. He stepped away from Grundo and began to observe their surroundings. The sun was setting in the west, casting an orange glow across the sky. They were standing atop a large plateau in what appeared to be a vast desert. To his left, he could see a small grove of trees and beyond that a large hilly area that seemed somewhat more lush than the rest of the desert. 'I wonder if there are any humans around', he thought to himself as he looked back over at Grundo who was still looking out over the plateau. 'He certainly seems much happier now that we are here.' Giro smiled as he thought of all the fun they had had together over these past few years and how far they had come since they first met in the forest. He was glad they ended up being friends instead of enemies like everyone said they would be back home. He wondered if people would ever accept them though and if they would ever go back to visit after this was all over. As his thoughts wandered back home, he heard a voice behind him say: "We should probably start looking for this artifact so we can get home."
Grundo turned around and walked toward Giro. "It's probably somewhere over there", he said pointing towards the large hilly area near them, "we'll have to cut through those trees first though." And with that, Grundo began walking towards the trees with Giro close behind him following closely behind him as he always did.
They spent about ten minutes walking through the small grove before finally reaching a clearing on the other side of it where they could see a large hillside up ahead of them stretching over half a mile into the horizon before reaching some massive cliffs at its summit. "This has got to be it", said Grundo as he looked up at the tall rock face in front of them, "it must be hidden up there somehow." They didn't waste any time getting started either as they jumped onto their cogbeasts and began flying into the air directly towards some large boulders along what seemed to be another pathway up to the top of the hillside. It took them several minutes but eventually they reached an area where it became very rocky and difficult for them to continue forward with their cogbeasts which made landing very difficult too due to all of the jagged rocks below them whenever they landed or crashed into things while flying around looking for somewhere safe enough for their landships to land on. "This is taking forever!", exclaimed Grundo in frustration as they continued trying to locate a spot where their ships wouldn't end up broken upon landing or take off again once they were already down on the ground which happened several times before they were able After what felt like hours, they arrived at what appeared to be an entranceway into some kind of cave system below them where it appeared as though someone or something had dug out a small area for ships such as theirs to enter safely without damaging themselves or worse crashing into rocks below them when entering or exiting it which immediately made Grundo feel relieved knowing that their ship wasn't going anywhere until they flew out of their own volition instead of crashing against some hard surface like everything else had done around them since arriving here in this place.
Grundo was so excited after finally getting inside this cave system that he couldn't contain himself any longer and simply shouted: "YES!" At which point Giro slapped him right across his head making him fall over onto his back next to him while rubbing his head slightly saying: "You idiot! This isn't even where we are supposed to be yet! Get up so we can go find this thing already!" After regaining his composure and forgetting about how badly he wanted to shout again just because he felt so happy after finally escaping this place outside where everything was trying to kill them most likely by smashing into them with terrible rocks falling from above them during all this seemingly endless pain while flying around trying desperately not crash into anything while trying desperately not to die while barely being able to see anything due tot heir poor vision from constantly moving around at high speeds while jumping from place t place all over looking for where exactly it was that they needed go because even though Grundo knew exactly where it was located based on information given directly from his dream about it because it was near exactly where he woke up after simply closing his eyes one morning without even thinking about doing so meaning that someone or something else must have put him there because no matter how hard he tried or how many things he did wrong like going through red houses instead of blue ones or becoming friends with Giro instead of killing him like everyone told him too which would have been incredibly easy considering how scared Giro used to always look whenever Grundo was around although now Giro doesn't seem scared at all anymore even though everyone still tells him not too but anyway right now Grundo is happy because finally after nearly dying hundreds if not thousands of times today alone putting him far past what anyone has ever seen before in terms of sheer number deaths combined with each death being nearly impossible grundo Vembe has finally managed after all this time finding himself alive right now in almost what appears at first glance t be paradise except that now Grundo Vembe stares blankly upward at nothing but darkness above him realizing that somehow despite having found what looks like paradise giro hasn't followed suit instead choosing instead only stare angrily down at grundo without saying a word until finally grundo says: "What?"
"Why didn't you shout?" asked Giro angrily as he pointed upwards yelling: "We found paradise!" Still sitting motionless next to giro staring blankly upward until eventually giro shouts "Well...?" Finally snapping grundo out of his trance long enough for him too realize what is actually happening before shouting: "You can't be serious?" Before staring blankly again after realizing that despite having discovered paradise an important thing somehow seems missing here whatever could possibly be missing though? Looking around slowly realizing that there is no sign anywhere whatsoever indicating who might have built such an incredible place nor any indication as too why someone would build such an incredible place neither is there any indication whatsoever that anyone lives here nor has lived here ever nor is there anything indicating why someone would even want t live here if living here means living without water food shelter clothing sleep showers beds beds baths toothbrushes toilets bathrooms showers etcetera etcetera etcetera which means that paradise isn't really paradise and then suddenly realizing while staring blankly iagain wondering why something important seems missing from here suddenly realizing what it is before shouting: "There's no water!"
