The Baby Curse of Syd

I'm walking down the street, a little nervous. I've never been good with crowds, but it's something I have to do. Heidee has been my girlfriend for 3 years now and we've already broken up twice. It's not that she's done anything wrong, I just get bored easily. Her power is always handy when I'm feeling lazy. She can make me regress in age, back to infancy if I wanted her too. But she doesn't know about my plan...

I spot her blonde hair bouncing in the crowd ahead. As I get closer, she turns around and gives me a smile. "Syd! You found me."

"Yeah, no problem," I say casually, brushing off my embarrassment from getting lost in the crowd."We should go somewhere and talk. I want to tell you something."

"Okay." We walk over to a nearby cafe and take a seat at an empty table. "So what did you want to tell me?"

"Well..." I pause dramatically as she leans forward anxiously, "I think we need some space right now."

Her face falls slightly, but she recovers quickly and says, "I understand. We will stay friends though right?"

"Of course!" I exclaim, "You're one of my best friends after all." That wasn't entirely true but it was something nice to say so that she wouldn't feel bad about the break up. "Maybe we could hang out tomorrow night, play video games or something?"

"Yeah," She smiles warmly at me again, "That would be fun."

After we finish our meals, Heidee walks me home so that we can hang out tomorrow night. As soon as she leaves I rush into my room and pull out the small device from my drawer. It's an experimental piece of tech called the Regressor 3000 which was invented by Dr Chenglei Han who happens to be an old friend of mine from school. It works similar to some of Heidee's powers but instead of making someone smaller it makes them older; however it requires physical contact with someone else who is also using the device to work properly. It's been sitting on my shelf since last week when he gave it to me; he said it was still being tested but he figured that since this was my only chance at getting rid of her power that he'd give it a shot anyway. If the plan works then great! If not then at least I still won't be stuck with her powers anymore...but if that doesn't work either then things might get a bit messy between us so there are other plans in store for that as well...

(The next day) *Knock Knock* The door opens and Heidee steps through the doorway carrying a bag filled with video games and snacks for tonight's game session. She looks around curiously as if trying to figure out where all my stuff was until she spotted me standing on the other side of the room wearing a black trench coat over top of my usual attire from yesterday minus the jacket; there is also a pair of sunglasses covering my eyes and a fedora hiding most of my short dark hair from view.*
