"I still can't believe you're here with me," Azar said to the dragon.

"Well, I'm not a figment of your imagination." The dragon looked at her, his golden eyes gleaming in the moonlight.

"I just... How did you know?" she asked again.

"I was summoned by the witch of a nearby village. I got there just in time to witness her be burned at the stake. She had been accused of witchcraft and they were angry that they couldn't find something to charge her with, so they killed her."

He was silent for a while as he remembered that night and then turned to look back at Azar again. "When I found out about it, I was about ready to go crazy. I started rampaging through villages, burning them down and killing villagers left and right until someone heard my roar from afar and knew who I was." He paused for a second, looking away. "I didn't think anyone would care about what happened to that woman, but one person did - a young woman named Azar."

Azar blushed. "She was nice and kindhearted even though she was accused of witchcraft too," she said softly without looking at him. It had taken her years to finally believe the witch wasn't guilty of anything except being different from most people in her village. They'd all lived under the thumb of the cruel lord who ruled over their lands and treated everyone like slaves. But even if they were free now, she wouldn't take back what she'd done because it had brought her to this moment where she was standing next to this incredible creature whose name was Shax.

He smiled warmly at her before turning around and staring into the ocean again. "I used my magic to create a boat for us so we can sail away from here," he said after a while. "It's well hidden so no one should be able to find it."
