Adventures of a Saucy Stranger: Hiro's Curious Quest

It all begins with Hiro, a sarcastic and strong-willed teenager from a small rural town in Japan. When his nosiness leads to him getting caught eavesdropping on his school friends one evening, he angrily goes out for a midnight walk to clear his head. That’s when he notices it— a swiftly and eerily hovering flying saucer above the town. Looking on in intrigue and suspicion, Hiro soon finds himself face to face with the strange mysteries that unravel before him when he watches as a large, ovoid-shaped metal object falls from the saucer and lands noisily onto the ground nearby. After fearfully and cautiously walking over to investigate, he finds a mysterious creature lays nestled in the object. The creature emerges to fly up and away, leaving Hiro equally in shock and curiosity. He returns home and gets little to no sleep throughout the night as he mulls over the rather unbelievable and mysterious scene. In the depths of the night he makes up his mind to find out the truth behind the creature and its mysterious origins.

Hiro embarks on his quest with his two best friend’s Aaron and Anna in tow. As they describe their adventure, Aaron and Anna point out Hiro’s obsession and enthusiasm, wondering out loud if they’re going to find themselves disappointed again as they did the last time. Of course with Hiro’s sarcastic wit and humor, he is able to have light moments as they make their way around the town. The trio stops in a small bookshop downtown, where they get some leads in the form of books that contain references to similar saucer sightings in the town. However, Hiro bores of the books and authors quickly. He travels to the office of a retired geological professor who at first begrudgingly agrees to tell him about similar sightings in the town a few decades ago. Soon, he is lost in the professor’s fascinating stories of nocturnal creatures that appear and disappear at a whim. He discovers stories about mysterious underground passageways and a dark fog that suddenly dropped over the town one day and was never seen again. Spurred by these stories and determined to get to the bottom of the mystery, the trio dives deep into the ancient legends and stories told of the area.

They travel around to various sites they’ve explored and go through old mysterious passages. At one point, they find themselves in a large room filled with what looks like a siren-like creature with crimson-colored eyes. With one twitch of its tail, it sends a shock throughout them. Intimidated by the creature but undeterred from their adventure, the trio continue on their journey. They travel further, finding different places and people to help them uncover more clues. As their investigation slowly unwinds, Hiro, his friends, and other people on their journey become increasing aware that someone or something is certainly following them on their quest. They come under attack time and time again by unknown and frightening creatures as they make their way towards the ultimate confrontation. With information they’ve been receiving, they decipher that the mysterious saucer is in search of a powerful artifact that could wreak havoc upon the world. It’s up to Hiro, Aaron, and Anna to find and protect the artifact before it falls in the wrong hands.

They piece together their clues and realize that the artifact lies beneath the town itself and the dark fog everyone feared had fatefully returned to protect it. They quickly race to beat the creatures to the artifact, but arrive barely on time. The saucer draws closer and a final confrontation ensues. In an epic battle, Hiro and his friends hold off the creatures with their wits as they complete the puzzle and unlock the way to the artifact. But the creatures keep coming and there is nowhere to go. Suddenly, light floods the room in the form of mysterious beams from the sky, and Hiro soon realizes that the flying saucer is actually from a secret society of guardians who have been trying to protect it all these years. Taking advantage of the distraction, Hiro manages to grab the artifact and make his escape as the creatures run desperately and disappear into the horizon. The light dissipates and Hiro, Aaron, and Anna are suddenly left surrounded by the mysterious light inside the town’s old petrified castle walls. With brevity and a heavy heart, they realize their mission has been accomplished and the artifact will now remain in safe hands. Thanks to their bravery Hiro, Aaron, and Anna have managed to protect the artifact. Everyone embraces their success and gives them a heroic salute. It’s a triumphant moment for all and in the end, the feel-good tone prevails and leaves the reader with a satisfied and happy ending to this thrilling lyrical romantic plot-driven story.
