Luca's Italian Underwater Odyssey

Over the course of the next few days, Luca would be plagued by dreams, these dreams would shape his life and those around him. For now though, he was busy with work and chores. His mother had given him a load to do, and now he was doing it. He should have been paying attention or at least trying to pay attention but instead he was thinking about his dream.

"Are you listening?" asked his mother.

"Yeah, I'm listening." replied Luca.

"I said that you are working too hard son." She told him as she walked over to where he was working on a wall. "We will manage without that extra money, maybe even better off."

Luca stopped for a minute and looked at her, she turned away from him and continued talking "You've been gone for two weeks now, your brother can't handle being alone at night all the time and I can't either." She turned to face Luca again "You're not going back out there."

She wasn't angry with Luca she was just worried about him. He knew this because they'd had this conversation before, but still he felt frustrated by her need to look after him so much, her fear of letting him have the freedom that came with being young and having an adventurous spirit like his father once did before the plague took him when Luca was just a baby.

"This is my decision mother." Said Luca "I made it for us so we could have a better life." He paused to let what he said sink in "It's fine if you don't understand, I understand that you're worried but I have to go back out there just one more time, then we'll be ok!"

Luca's mother shook her head and turned away from Luca again and began cleaning up the room. Luca watched her for a moment before turning back to work on the wall, he really did love her but sometimes she was so annoying and over protective. After a while his mother left the room leaving Luca alone with his thoughts again.

He thought back on his dream from the other day, something he couldn't help but think about constantly since it happened. He remembered how vivid it was how he could feel everything as if it were real. He thought about how strange it was that in his dream an old friend of his fathers was there helping him on his quest. It wasn't until after the dream ended that Luca realized why the man looked familiar to him; this man had helped his father many years ago when they shared their adventures together searching for hidden treasures across Italy.

Lorenzo Marcello had known Andrea Garibaldi before either of them were married or had children or even lived in Italy; they had searched together for gold bullions lost across Italy during times of war or unrest. As far as anyone knew both men found success in their quests however only Andrea Garibaldi returned home alive leaving Lorenzo Marcello with only fond memories of their adventures together whilst he collected various trinkets such as coins or medals from ruins or unexplored caves across Italy in honor of his friend who remained lost to this day.
