"Ugh, this is gonna be a long night" I smiled to myself as I pulled my car into the closest parking space.

I was a detective of the police department and tonight I had been called in to investigate a possible case of murder.

The forensic team were already at work when I got there, and I was greeted by my old friend Maria. She was one of the lead forensic scientists for the department and she'd been with me for years now.

"Hey Maria! What've we got?"

"Well so far it looks like the victim died by strangulation" Maria answered me as she pointed to a large purple bruise on his neck "there's also evidence that he was drugged with some sort of sedative."

I looked over to where Maria was pointing and saw a small plastic bag sitting next to the victim.

"What is it?" I asked her curiously.

"It's a strange chemical compound we've never seen before, It's not drugs but it could very well be something just as dangerous." Maria explained to me in response. "There's also traces of blood found on the floor over there, so it looks like the murderer didn't go too cleanly about things." She added further.

Maria showed me where the blood had been found and sure enough there were indeed several small drops of red liquid splattered across the floor around us "but what does all this mean?" I asked her curiously "why did someone kill him? And why are they trying to hide their tracks?"
