Quinn's Quest for Love

The sun had set hours ago, and the long shadows of the street lamps cast a pale blue light over everything. The town was quiet, but not yet asleep. Here and there, someone walked past me on their way to or from somewhere, but none took notice of me.

I wasn't sure if it was because I looked nondescript, or if people simply didn't care about anyone else at this time of night. Either way, I was grateful. I had made my way into town without any problems this time around, so that was something at least.

It was strange, to think that I had finally made it to my destination after so much hardship. After months of traveling alone through a foreign land, it almost felt like my life's work was complete - only for the true work to begin now though. I couldn't wait to start on the next part of my journey. Now that I could see the castle in the distance, lit up against the dark horizon like some golden star atop a mountain range as though waiting for me to join it, I couldn't help but feel excited. Even now, as I walked carefully along the cobblestone streets with my hands in my pockets for fear of being seen by someone who would try and stop me from reaching my goal; even now, I couldn't help but feel joyous inside.

But first things first - I needed to get inside the castle itself and find the prince. Getting inside shouldn't be too hard - all I'd need was an invitation with my name on it. That shouldn't be too hard either; according to this week's gossip spread through town by the servants of the castle itself, there was an engagement party taking place within these very walls tonight - and since everyone knows that invitations at those kinds of affairs tend to be somewhat casual, finding one shouldn't be too hard. And once I had an invitation? It'd be smooth sailing from then on out!

That is if nothing went wrong between here and there...
