The Silence of the Cze
·
Published 5/30/2023As an unassuming but powerful girl, Nina must battle a relentless enemy intent on her destruction, all while uncovering the secrets of her true nature to save her troubled homeland from darkness before all is lost.

"The sun is setting and we need to find shelter for the night, before the Cze attacks us again," Viggo said.
"I know, I know. I've heard you a dozen times already." Nina was getting rather impatient by now. She had been walking for hours and it seemed like there was no sign of any place to rest.
She stood up from where she had been sitting on a rock and started walking again. This time though, she decided to walk in the other direction, away from Viggo. He made her feel slightly uncomfortable. He was tall, sturdily built and handsome in a way that made girls swoon over him at the village when they were young. In fact, he had even proposed marriage to her once but she politely refused his offer. Now that they were both adults, Nina couldn't help but feel as if Viggo harboured some sort of resentment towards her for turning down his proposal all those years ago. It didn't help that he still tried to keep an eye on her every chance he got and that he always wanted to protect her.
It took her about half an hour before she reached a small meadow with a river at the centre of it. She stopped when she saw something moving in the middle of the water. It appeared to be a person trying to swim across to the other side of the river. But what surprised her was that there was another person floating on top of the water further down from where she was standing. What's more startling was that this second figure seemed to be holding onto the first one's feet!
Nina ran back towards Viggo and told him about what she saw in the river. The two of them rushed towards the edge of the bank and peered over into the water below them, but they couldn't see anything else except for the surface of the river which rippled in response to their footsteps disturbing its stillness. They stared at each other, wondering if they were both hallucinating or if they really did see something there just now but they came up with nothing so they just gave up and returned back home empty-handed as it became dark outside.
"Hello... hello?" Nina asked into her portable phone while walking through the forest one day later on when she discovered something strange lying on the ground next to a tree trunk. It looked like a pair of pants but there was something odd about it that made it different from regular pants that she'd seen before. She walked closer towards it until she realised that something was sticking out from where its legs should have been and realised that it wasn't pants after all - it was someone's legs! But who...? Nina turned around looking for help but Viggo had disappeared whilst she wasn't looking! He must have gone ahead without her! "Viggo!" Nina shouted in response to her current situation but it didn't seem like he could hear her because he didn't respond at all! "What do I do...?" Nina murmured as she crouched down to get a closer look at what used to be someone's legs but then suddenly felt weak herself so she sat down on one knee instead. As soon as her hand touched onto what seemed like cold flesh, however, Nina felt something electric surge through her body! Her head began spinning around uncontrollably as if invisible hands were twisting round within it, making it impossible for her to stay conscious anymore so eventually, Nina fainted...
