The evening sun spilled into the shop, illuminating the dusty books and strange physiques of the customers. The shop's owner, Vincenzo, sat behind the counter, quietly reading a book about necromancy. He was an old man with long white hair, a dark black mustache and a matching beard. His eyes were a deep blue. He wore an old brown woolen cloak over his loose-fitting robe, which was adorned with flowers and fairies. He had moved to this small town in France a few years back from Rome. He had done so because he wanted more quietness than he could get in the big city; more time to himself to read, study and practice necromancy.

The door chimed lightly as a customer walked in. "Ah, hello there, young man," Vincenzo said kindly as he marked his place in the book and closed it. "What can I do for you?"

"Hi," he said shyly as he approached the counter, "I'm looking for some books on magic."

"Well, my boy," Vincenzo pointed to the right corner of the store where there were shelves full of books on magic, alchemy, witchcraft and other such practices. "You've found them." He smiled at him softly as he walked towards them. "Which area do you want me to start with?"

"I'm not sure... Maybe... Maybe I'll just look around for now," he said nervously as he began walking down the aisle. After a few moments of searching through the books on each shelf, he finally found one that caught his interest: Advanced Necromancy 101: How to Raise Your Dead Pets. He picked up the book and looked curiously at its cover. The title was so blunt and simple and straightforward that it took him by surprise. He opened it and began skimming through its pages but then heard another customer approach him from behind.

As the new visitor walked slowly towards him, he put the book back on the shelf. His stomach turned as he looked up and saw that it was a group of three bullies who often tormented him at school. They all lived across the street from him and they always watched him suspiciously whenever they saw him walking home from school or sitting outside reading or practicing his necromancy in front of his house with his cat who was very much alive and well because she was practically immortal thanks to Vincenzo's powers (she had been around since Roman times). The leader of the group was even more intimidating than the others; despite being younger than them by a few years, he had a reputation for violent behavior and had been expelled from multiple schools.

"Hey Pietro!" the leader, Alexandre, said with an evil grin on his face as soon as Pietro looked up at them hesitantly after putting down the book again on its shelf. "Here are your three friends: Robin, Sylvain..."

"...and I'm Jean-Baptiste," Jean-Baptiste added quickly with a chuckle as Robin rolled his eyes at Jean-Baptiste's eagerness to show off their friendship with Pietro in front of Alexandre, knowing full well that Jean-Baptiste wasn't really part of their gang but just someone who tagged along sometimes with Robin and Sylvain whenever Alexandre wasn't around.

Pietro gulped nervously as Alexandre glared at them intensely before saying to Pietro: "Well? You going to introduce us already? Or do we have to beat it out of you?"

"Uhm..." Pietro stammered nervously while trying hard not to look away from Alexandre's intense gaze while looking back at Sylvain, Robin, and especially Jean-Baptiste, whose face suddenly went pale when Pietro looked at them again after glancing down at the floor. "This is--"

Before Pietro could finish introducing them, Alexandre interrupted loudly: "Oh, let's save ourselves some time here! We know how these conversations usually go!" He proceeded to describe each of their typical interactions mockingly, painting a picture of naive curiosity being met with teasing and hostility designed to make the bullies feel superior. His tirade continued as he grew louder and more animated, culminating in an assertion that no one wanted to entertain the idea of an imperfect world.

Then, without warning, Alexandre lowered his arms and returned a fierce glare to Pietro, silent for nearly 30 seconds. Finally, he turned his gaze angrily towards Jean-Baptiste, visibly frustrated by the latter's inaction when it came to helping their friend escape this increasingly tense situation. But, just as before, Jean-Baptiste only stared back blankly, looking terrified – as if knowing that things would soon escalate once again unless someone intervened.
