Kamila's Triumphant Reign

As a young girl and daughter to the king, I was deprived of any role in the affairs of state. My father was a great man, but his views on women were far from progressive. He had only one child and his heir was his son, my brother. Now, a few years later, my father has died and the kingdom lies in my brother's hands. I could not believe how he could be so uncaring of his people and their future.

- "I hate you," he said to me before our father's funeral. It took all my self-control not to slap him right there.

- "You're upsetting mother," I said with as much control as possible.

- "She hates you too," he added with venom in his voice. His eyes showed no remorse for what he had just said. He walked towards me and looked straight into my eyes without flinching away. "No woman is fit to rule men."

I bit my lip hard enough that blood pooled inside my mouth and drooled down my chin. I stared at him for what seemed like minutes until he looked away and walked out of the room leaving me alone with mother who tried her best to comfort me. The news came as a shock. Father's death was sudden, unexpected and above all - unnatural. No one knew the cause of death except for me, mother and brother. But I was only told about it in private when he was already dead.

The days after our father's funeral were dark for us all, especially for mother whose health declined rapidly until she fell ill and passed away soon after. When it came time for me to inherit the throne, I decided to challenge my brother's mental capacity to rule by imprisoning him in an asylum where he would never see sunlight again or get fresh air ever again. It pained me to make this decision against him, but I did what was necessary to ensure that the kingdom would remain safe under my guidance while also maintaining its tradition of male domination over female oppression once more under the rule of another queen who isn't the rightful ruler by birthright but instead by meritocracy; by strength and determination; by sheer force of will!
