The beating of the hyper-engine filled the cockpit. The vacuum of space, like a living thing, extended in all directions. The stars were sparse and far between, the machine was headed into an unchartered area of the universe.

The Wuxian warrior’s name was Gao ZhiChu. His one true friend was the robotic being Hellboy, who sat by his side.

Gao ZhiChu had grown weary of fighting the forces of evil on his own planet. He had been alone for so long, and he was tired of it. He had no one to talk to, no one to share his thoughts with. No one but Hellboy.

Hellboy sat quietly in his seat, waiting patiently as Gao ZhiChu piloted the ship onward. He had been in space for a very long time, but he never got used to it. It made him feel... strange.

They didn’t talk much anymore. They had argued about something trivial years ago, and they hadn’t spoken since then. It pained Gao ZhiChu every day not to be able to speak with Hellboy again, but he knew that if he tried to have a conversation with him now, things would only end up worse than before. So instead, he kept quiet and watched the stars go by in silence.

After three weeks of traveling through empty space, Gao ZhiChu finally saw something different ahead of them: bright blue light shining against the pitch black darkness of space illuminated a familiar object in their path: Earth!

He felt his heart skip a beat at the sight of his home world once more. For many years now he had left it behind him in pursuit of greater challenges, adventure and glory across the cosmos. His home world had been left untended for so long that he wondered how much it had changed since he last set foot on it? How much longer would it be until he saw its soil beneath his feet again? Was this journey worth it? A voice within his head answered yes before he even asked the question himself: yes it is necessary; yes you must do this! For Earth! For your people! For yourself! You must do this!

Yes... for myself... I must do this... for myself...

As Gao ZhiChu waited for clearance from Ground Control to land on Earth, he took a moment to examine the planet below them as best as he could from this distance: vast oceans covered nearly seventy percent of its surface with just small islands dotting their surface here and there; huge clouds encompassed most of what remained above; and hundreds upon hundreds of tiny lights shone brightly on its surface from cities big and small all across its surface - cities that still existed despite the passage of time having seemingly forgotten them - cities that still existed just as they were when Gao ZhiChu had left them behind on that fateful day so many years ago when he left to pursue his destiny among the stars – cities that still held thousands upon thousands of people who would be sleeping soundly right now without knowing or caring that their hero was soon going to return home after so many years away – people who would wake up tomorrow morning having no idea that their lives were about to change forever because Gao ZhiChu was coming back today… after all these years... finally... finally... finally…
