The hare walked slowly down the street. It was a clear, sunny day. The dew on the grass sparkled in the sun’s rays. He stopped to smell a rose and see if there were any strawberries ripe.

There weren’t any strawberries yet, but there was a beautiful woman sitting on the steps of her house, holding a baby on her lap. The woman smiled at him. She had kind eyes and wore a blue dress with white flowers. She looked like mother nature herself.

The hare nodded politely at her and said: “I am Clio, son of Apollo and muse Calliope. I am very pleased to meet you.”

The woman curtsied in return and replied: “My name is Mary, and this is my little boy, Jesus.”

The smile on her face made Clio feel at ease and happy. He asked her: “Your son is so cute! What is his name?”

Mary replied: “His name is Jesus Christ, he is our God-given saviour!”

Clio paused for a moment in thought and asked: “He…saved whom?”

All the sudden Mary had a puzzled look on her face and she answered: “Well…he saved us from sin!”

Clio couldn’t understand why someone would have to save people from sin. He always thought that people could do whatever they wanted if it didn’t hurt other people or animals.

As he was about to ask more questions, Mary quickly walked into her house with the baby, who was still sleeping peacefully in her arms. She closed the door behind them without saying anything more.

Clio stood there for a while but then decided to continue on his way through the town of Nazareth. He saw many beautiful houses with flowers on their balconies and heard children playing in the streets as they called out to each other while they played tag or some other game he didn’t know yet. The warm sun felt good on his fur and he enjoyed walking around town and seeing all the different kinds of plants grow everywhere around him - hydrangeas, roses, tulips, daisies and others he did not know yet! After walking around for a while he came across a small group of older children who were walking down the street together deep in conversation and laughing loudly. Clio looked at them curiously as they passed him by since they were so loud one could hear them from far away; however, when they noticed him looking at them they suddenly quieted down and walked past him without saying anything more than a quick greeting: “Hello Mr Rabbit!” They too must have seen his father somewhere up there in heaven watching over them all because no one ever spoke badly about gods or muses; instead they were always treated with respect wherever they went, especially after all those nice songs Clio had sung about them over the years!
