Tuulikki's Mischief in the Meadows!

The sun was shining over the hills, and the birds were singing in the trees. I whistled a tune as I walked down the village street, leading my cow home from her morning grazing. It was so nice to walk through the little village while everyone else was still asleep, taking in the fresh air and listening to the birds.

The cows all seemed fine this morning, none of them had any injuries or anything. I continued on down the path towards my house, my feet making imprints in the thick grass that covered the ground. I heard a rustling behind me and turned to see what it was. A rabbit scurried out from some tall grass and hopped along after me, curious to see what I had for breakfast today. My mum always packed me a lunch full of apples, dried meat and cheese when she sent me off with my cow to graze, so it was interesting that he wanted to follow me instead of running around looking for his own food.

I led my cow into our little barn where we would be safe from any predators that might want to eat us before putting her in her stall and giving her some hay to eat. After cleaning up after her, I went back outside with an apple for her and closed up the barn doors behind me.

A light breeze caught my hair and lifted it up off my head in an unusual way, like something moving behind me had done it. When I turned around there wasn’t anything there though, just a few chickens walking around on their roosts close by. The rabbit reappeared from behind my house and hopped along next to me again as I headed inside for some breakfast myself.

My mum didn’t have much for us today, but at least she left enough food for both of us before she left for town this morning. She said she would be back later this afternoon with more cheese from her friend’s farm near ours. I put some apples into Tuulikki’s trough for us both to share then sat down on my own little bench by the fire place and ate a piece of bread with some cheese on it while watching Tuulikki eat her apples nearby. We had some leftover sausage too, so after we were both finished eating we each took one last bite out of our sausages then got up to go play outside with Anniina until our mum came home.

There was a fence around our entire yard that kept Tuulikki safe while we played outside; Tuulikki liked to stick close to the fence line because she liked being able to smell everything that happened on either side of her without actually having to step out into it herself. Anniina enjoyed being able to run all around without being hindered by fences or fields or anything else really, but she preferred not to get too far away from our house either because she knew that if she did she wouldn’t be able to find her way back anymore once night fell and all the animals came out searching for dinner in our yard instead of theirs - that scared her too much! So whenever we went outside together we usually stayed right in front of our house where we could keep an eye on things if need be while still having fun running around together as well.

One day when I was younger than Anniina is now I was playing outside with Tuulikki when suddenly a bear came charging at us both! He knocked Tuulikki over and bit into her leg before throwing her body against one of our fence posts where he broke one of her legs! Luckily though he let go of Tuulikki before he could bite any deeper into either one of us and ran off before anyone could catch him! Ever since then we kept an eye out for bears whenever we went outside in case they tried that trick again! But now that I am older than most girls in town are even allowed to be married yet no bear has bothered us since so we haven't needed to worry about that problem lately anyway... well not until now anyway!
