Mystic Falls and the Vampire Hunt

"We're here," I said, slowly and carefully.

It was my first time in the town of Mystic Falls, so I didn't want to make any mistakes that could jeopardize this mission. I may be a vampire, but even we have our pride.

The rain pummeled down on us as we stepped out of the car, making it hard to see through the foggy windows. The street lamps barely lit the pavement, giving off a slight flicker every few seconds. It was late at night and the streets were empty. The only sign of life was the storm that raged outside.

"Where are we?" my partner asked me, looking around nervously. He was a little more jumpy than normal, probably due to the fact that he wasn't too fond of this place - or this century for that matter. He preferred his centuries-old books to anything else. This was after all a dangerous job - one that had already claimed two lives before us. But we did what we could to keep ourselves safe, by hunting vampires together whenever possible.

I took a deep breath and motioned towards an alleyway where a dim light was flickering in its depths. "In there."

My voice echoed through the silence, seeming louder than usual in this small town. I hoped no one would notice us. We didn't need any unwanted attention right now; we needed to leave as soon as possible once our job was done. There would be no sleeping arrangements tonight, we just needed to get back into our time period as fast as possible after we finished here tonight. It took too much energy to keep traveling across different time periods and maintaining our appearances while doing so, which was something neither of us felt like dealing with at the moment. The sooner we got rid of those blood-sucking vampires and got back home, the happier we would be. Not only did they drain our blood, but they also drained our energy and motivation to continue doing this job well; it took so much more effort when you had to travel between different time periods every week or so just to stay on track with your targets because otherwise, you'd lose track of them due to how long they lived for... They were pests, and we were their hunters, nothing more or less than that. But when you aren't very fond of your job in life, it's hard not to let it bother you from time to time...

My partner followed me over towards where I was pointing moments earlier and stopped just a few meters away from me, his eyes barely visible through the darkness and growing rain around us. We stayed silent for a few moments before he decided it was safe enough and started walking past me with his head down, just like I had been doing before he arrived and entered the alleyway where light was shining through from one of its entrances onto the street outside - giving off an eerie glow as if something was trapped inside, struggling to get out and escape this realm... Or this existence... All living things eventually escaped death through death itself, but these creatures took longer than most others did; they tried escaping their fate by sucking human blood until their hearts stopped beating altogether... And then some... Which made them even more difficult to deal with than they normally would have been because they lasted longer than humans did... But even vampires couldn't live forever... Death always caught up with them eventually!

We walked further into the alleyway until we reached a spot where the light wasn't so bright anymore, thanks to some dumpsters placed next to each other which blocked out most of the glow from entering that section of the wall, dimming it down just enough so that anyone who dared enter would have trouble seeing anything without using their senses. And who wanted to rely on senses alone when you could use technology instead? That's what my partner asked himself before making his way towards one of those dumpsters, taking out his phone from his pocket while turning on all its features - special features that allowed him to access both visual and audio recordings onto whatever he wanted... Including situations like this, which required protective gear in order to survive such events. It was dangerous but necessary if we wanted results worth going back home with.

[END OF CHAPTER ONE]

[CHAPTER TWO]

"You find anything yet?" I asked my partner when he hadn't spoken in quite some time now since I started following him around after picking up what seemed like an electric signal under one of the dumpsters. Where there's light, there's usually some kind of electric signal being sent out! So what else could that mean except for vampires? My partner didn't respond immediately, so I spoke up again: "Hey!"
