Published 12/2/2023Miles Morales swung through the city, his spider-sense tingling. He landed on a rooftop and scanned the streets below. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary, but he couldn't shake the feeling that something was wrong.
"Hey, Miles! Over here!" called a familiar voice.
Miles turned to see Gwen Stacy, also known as Spider-Gwen, perched on a nearby ledge. She waved him over.
"What's up, Gwen?" Miles asked as he joined her.
"I've been tracking this guy," Gwen said, showing Miles a picture on her phone. "He's been stealing high-tech equipment from all over the city."
"Any idea who he is?" Miles asked.
Gwen shook her head. "Not yet. But I think he might be connected to the Vulture from that alternate universe we visited last month."
Miles frowned. The Vulture had been causing trouble in their universe before teaming up with them to take down his alternate self. If someone was working with him again, it couldn't be good.
"We should tell the others," Miles said.
Just then, a news alert popped up on Gwen's phone. It showed a video of George Stacy, Gwen's father and former police captain, talking to someone in a Vulture costume.
"What the hell?" Gwen muttered as she played the video.
"I know you have reservations about working with me," the Vulture said in a distorted voice, "but together we can bring down the Spider-Society and take control of the multiverse."
George nodded. "I'm in."
The video ended, and another news alert appeared. It showed George and the Vulture robbing a high-tech lab.
"Miles... my dad is working with the Vulture," Gwen said quietly.
"MJ and Peter need to see this," Miles said, pulling out his own phone to call their friends.
As they waited for MJ and Peter to arrive, Miles and Gwen watched more news reports. George and the Vulture were wreaking havoc all over the city, stealing advanced technology and causing chaos.
"Why would my dad do this?" Gwen asked, her voice filled with sadness.
"I don't know," Miles said. "But we'll figure it out, I promise."
Just then, MJ and Peter landed on the rooftop next to them.
"What's going on?" MJ asked.
Miles showed them the video of George and the Vulture. Their expressions hardened as they watched.
"We need to stop them," Peter said.
"But first, we need to find out why George is working with the Vulture," MJ added.
The four of them swung through the city, tracking George and the Vulture's movements. They followed a trail of stolen technology to an abandoned warehouse on the outskirts of town.
"Stay here," Peter said as he crouched on a nearby rooftop. "I'll go in and see what I can find out."
They waited anxiously as Peter snuck into the warehouse. After what felt like forever, he came back out and rejoined his friends.
"Well?" Miles asked.
Peter sighed. "George is working with the Vulture to bring down the Spider-Society and take control of the multiverse."
Gwen's face paled. "But why?"
"Peter overheard them talking," MJ explained. "George blames himself for what happened to your universe, Gwen. He thinks that by helping the Vulture, he can prevent something like that from ever happening again."
Gwen shook her head in disbelief. "He's lost his mind."
"We have to stop him," Miles said firmly. "Before he does something even worse."
The four of them made a plan to infiltrate another high-tech lab that George and the Vulture were targeting that night. They knew it wouldn't be easy, but they were determined to bring George to justice and put a stop to the Vulture's plans.
As they swung through the city, Miles couldn't help but think about his own father. He had lost him in his own universe, and he knew how much it hurt. He couldn't imagine what Gwen was going through, knowing that her father was alive but on the wrong side of the law.
"We'll get through this," Miles said quietly as he caught up to Gwen.
She nodded, a determined look on her face. "We have to."
They arrived at the lab and found George and the Vulture already inside. The two villains were surrounded by stolen technology, which they were using to create a device that would allow them to travel between universes at will.
"Stop right there!" Peter shouted as they burst into the lab.
George turned to face them, his expression pained. "I'm sorry, Gwen. I have to do this."
"No, you don't," Gwen said firmly. "You're better than this."
George hesitated for a moment, then shook his head. "It's too late for me."
He activated the device, and a swirling portal opened in front of him. The Vulture grinned triumphantly and stepped through.
"Come with me," he taunted. "Or stay here and watch your friends die."
George looked torn for a moment, then followed the Vulture into the portal.
"Gwen!" Miles shouted as he swung towards her.
But it was too late. The portal closed before he could reach her.
"Gwen..." Miles whispered, his heart sinking.
"We'll find another way," MJ said quietly, putting a hand on Miles' shoulder.
Miles nodded, his eyes filled with determination. They may have lost one of their own, but they weren't giving up. They would find a way to bring George back and stop the Vulture once and for all.
