Escape from the Yandere Embrace

“You’re cutting it close, Jason.”

I exhaled a sigh of relief as I set foot upon the home world of the Sanu. I had made it in time, just barely escaping Melissa’s grasp.

The Sanu were a kind and generous race. Their technology advanced beyond that of any other civilization in the galaxy. They were also one of the few races to achieve a stable wormhole network across the entire galaxy, allowing for instantaneous travel between different star systems. Thankfully, they didn’t mind me using their network to get back home before Melissa could catch up with me.

The Sanu homeworld was one of beauty. I stood on a platform overlooking a lush green valley surrounded by mountains covered in lush forests and rushing rivers fed by snow-capped peaks, all bathed in sunlight from the planet’s orange sun. It was truly breathtaking.

I walked off the platform and started heading down towards the valley, then caught myself. I had forgotten all about my suit! The radiation shielding would protect me, but I couldn’t carry it around with me everywhere like that.

Thankfully, I remembered there was a fairly large spaceport nearby where I could rent or buy a new suit from their terminal system. As long as I didn’t go out into direct sunlight, I should be fine for a few hours while I got one. If not, hopefully they had some sort of rental option here on the platform so I wouldn’t have to go all the way down into the valley to find someone who could help me. There were some people walking around nearby, probably scientists studying the wildlife in this area of the planet, but I wasn’t sure if any of them would be able to speak my language or know how to help me if I needed anything from them.

As I approached one of the buildings on the platform that appeared to be an information center, someone grabbed me from behind and pulled me inside before closing the door behind us. Before my eyes could adjust to my new surroundings and see who had pulled me inside, they had placed their hand over my mouth and dragged me into what sounded like a small corridor with another door at the end of it. We went through that door into what sounded like a room with lots of things being operated by machinery somewhere ahead of us and voices speaking languages unknown to me but which sounded vaguely familiar echoing off every surface surrounding us within our dark confines as we hid there together, he holding me tight as he whispered quietly in what sounded like my own language into my ear while keeping his hand over my mouth: “Shh… We have to be quiet or we’ll give ourselves away… You need to stay here with me until we can leave this place… Do you understand? Please don’t make any noise… Don’t even breathe too loudly… You have to stay quiet for both our sakes… Shh… You have no idea how much trouble you would be in if anyone found you here… Shh…. Just stay quiet and follow my lead... We have to be very careful now..."
