The boat was lost.

"¿Ya estamos?" The captain asked, waving his hand in front of his face and shielding the sun above him. The wind blew hard against the sails and the ship had been sailing for days. He was tired and hungry but he wasn't willing to give up.

"I think we might have passed it," said one of the crewmen, stretching his arms above him. "It's taking too long."

"We should probably turn back."

"No!" The captain shouted with a mixture of anger and desperation. He didn't want to give up on his journey. It meant more to him than anything else in the world. "If you think this is giving up then you're wrong! I'm here because I believe that we can make it! And there are a lot of people who are counting on us, you hear me? If we give up now then what would they have left? We have to keep going!"

The crewmen looked at each other after hearing the passionate speech from their captain. They all knew that they were running out of supplies, but none of them wanted to be the first to admit defeat and return empty handed. Being a sailor wasn't easy and it certainly wasn't glamorous either. For some reason, the crewmen seemed drawn to something about this captain that made them stay with him despite having better options available. Perhaps it was something about his appearance or perhaps it was just his jocular personality that kept them so invested in his journey. The crewmen didn't know what it was exactly, but they did know that they couldn't let him down now when they were so close to reaching their destination. There was no way they were turning back now; not after all that they'd gone through to get here. They took a deep breath and prepared themselves for what they've all been waiting for; the discovery of El Dorado, an ancient city rumored to be filled with gold and riches beyond imagination. It was only a matter of time before someone discovered their watery hideout and looted their great treasures and riches... but now it would be them that discovers this legendary city first!

"¡Vamonos!" The captain shouted as he adjusted his hat and waved again at the sun above him. He urged everyone to put their backs into their work as he pushed forward on the rudder wheel in an attempt to steer away from an approaching storm cloud in front of them. Although their journey had been nothing short of a miracle, he knew that luck like this wouldn't last forever. Sooner or later, something bad was bound to happen, but he intended to enjoy every moment of it until that day finally came. "¡Vamonos!" He repeated again as he continued pushing ahead on the wheel despite being blinded by the sun's rays and blinded by exhaustion from lack of sleep. His eyes burned as he squinted them shut, unable to see straight ahead anymore as his vision grew blurry from exhaustion and hunger. After finally recovering from seeing nothing but white light, he opened his eyes again only to see darkness all around him; not a single ray of light could be seen anywhere in any direction... and yet... something seemed off about this darkness... almost familiar in some strange way...
