Shrinking Franz and the Magical Wolf-Bitch

The day was like any other, I was walking around the park with my girlfriend and my dog when we were approached by a man in a nice suit.

"Greetings sir, I'm from the empire of Aspergia, I'm here on official business." He said with a smile and a small bow.

I had no idea what that meant but I didn't want to seem rude so I simply smiled back at him. He then cleared his throat and continued: "It's about your pet there, he is known as a Hellhound correct?"

"Yes, this is Kama." My girlfriend replied before I could ask what he meant. The man looked over at Kama curiously.

"She's beautiful." He said after a while. "We would like to offer you our protection if you would be willing to send her to us."

"No, she's not for sale." I replied with a chuckle and an answer they probably expected me to give every time they asked me this question. He sighed in frustration as he stared at me with his hands on his hips looking into the distance. After a while he turned his attention back towards us and spoke again: "Even if you don't want to sell her, we would be willing to take her off your hands for some...favors."

I looked at him with curiosity and confusion: What are favors? Does he mean money or something? After a while I figured it out, he wanted Kama in exchange for their protection against the other Empires who were also hunting down Hellhounds. They always tried to claim them as their own pets or attack them outright if they were roaming free in the wild. Luckily for Kama being raised by us for most of her life she wasn't so easily spooked anymore and she usually stood her ground when faced up against others like herself. Anyways I didn't agree with the deal but it was one of those situations where you had to take the good that came out of it and look past what happened next. Maybe they would keep their promise and not hunt her down anyway so all was not lost right? Right?
