Amelia sat at the edge of her bed, staring at the broken clock on her nightstand. The hands were frozen in place, a constant reminder of the time that had stopped for her. She sighed and ran a hand through her messy hair, frustration building within her.

"Why did this have to happen to me?" she muttered to herself.

It had been just another ordinary day when everything changed. Amelia was walking home from school when she witnessed a horrific car accident. Time seemed to slow down as she watched in horror, and then something strange happened. With an overwhelming surge of energy, she felt time bend and shift around her. In an instant, the accident was undone, the cars un-colliding and returning to their original positions.

Amelia had saved them.

But in doing so, something within her had awakened. She now possessed the ability to manipulate time, although she didn't fully understand how or why.

The days that followed were a blur of confusion and fear as Amelia struggled to control her newfound power. Time would freeze around her without warning or speed up uncontrollably, leaving her disoriented and overwhelmed. She had tried to tell her parents what was happening, but they dismissed it as stress from the accident.

Now, sitting alone in her room with the broken clock before her, Amelia knew she couldn't keep hiding this secret. She needed help.

As if on cue, there was a knock at her bedroom door.

"Amelia? Can I come in?" It was her younger brother Ethan.

"Yeah," Amelia replied with a sigh.

Ethan entered the room cautiously, his eyes filled with concern as he took in his sister's exhausted appearance.

"Are you okay?" he asked softly.

Amelia forced a smile for his sake. "Yeah, just tired."

Ethan wasn't convinced but didn't press further. Instead, he walked over to Amelia's desk and picked up a small metal puzzle toy, twisting and turning it in his hands.

"Mom and Dad are worried about you," he said quietly, not looking up from the toy. "They think you're keeping something from them."

Amelia's heart sank. She hadn't wanted to worry her parents or burden them with her problems, but it seemed like her secret was already starting to unravel.

"I... I don't know how to explain it," she admitted, her voice barely above a whisper.

Ethan finally looked up at her, his eyes filled with a mix of curiosity and understanding.

"Maybe I can help," he said simply.

Amelia blinked in surprise. Ethan was only twelve years old, how could he possibly understand what she was going through?

Before she could respond, Ethan set the puzzle toy back on the desk and reached into his pocket. He pulled out a small piece of paper and handed it to Amelia.

"What's this?" she asked, unfolding the paper to reveal a hand-drawn clock with moving hands.

"It's for you," Ethan explained. "I thought maybe if you had a working clock, it would help you control your time thingy."

Amelia felt tears welling up in her eyes as she looked at her brother's thoughtful gift. In that moment, she realized that she didn't have to face this alone. Ethan may not fully understand what she was going through, but he believed in her and was willing to help however he could.

With a surge of determination, Amelia stood up from the bed and walked over to Ethan. She wrapped him in a tight hug, grateful for his support.

"Thank you," she whispered.

Ethan hugged her back just as tightly and smiled. "We'll figure this out together."

As they stood there embracing each other, Amelia felt a newfound sense of hope wash over her. She knew that the road ahead would be challenging and uncertain, but with her brother by her side, she was ready to face whatever came her way.

And maybe, just maybe, she would learn to embrace her power and use it for something greater than herself.

The broken clock on the nightstand ticked softly, its hands still frozen in time. But Amelia knew that with the love and support of her family, she could find a way to make them move again.
