Secret Banter Adventures
·
Published 3/29/2023Young and adventurous Swiss woman, Helga, embarks on an unexpected journey of self-discovery when she meets the alluring Englishman, Bradley, who harbors a serious secret - forcing Helga to confront the fragility of honesty and love in a hilarious test of will and wit.
Helga, a twenty-four-year-old tourist from Switzerland, set out on a one-year adventure through Europe. Her first stop was the United Kingdom, and her first stop there was London. She knew English, so she felt pretty confident about getting around.
She arrived at Heathrow Airport and located the bus that would take her into the city center. The ride was long but not unpleasant. She looked around at all of the people dressed in different types of clothing, going about their business in various ways. It was very interesting to Helga.
At last, they reached the bus station near Trafalgar Square. She was tired and hungry, so she went to find a place to eat lunch. After some searching, she found an Italian restaurant that served lunch until 3:00 pm. It was already 1:30 pm, so she walked in and sat down with a menu. A waiter came over, gave her a menu, smiled at her and then left to check on another table.
A few minutes later, someone sat down across from Helga at her table. He had short brown hair and blue eyes - quite handsome - and he carried himself with a certain amount of confidence. He laid his newspaper down on the table between them and said, "May I join you?" Helga looked up from her menu, glanced at him for a second or two and replied enthusiastically in English, "Please do!"
They talked for what seemed like ages about this and that: where they were from (him from England...her from Switzerland); how long they'd been traveling; what they hoped to see during their trip; etcetera.... They laughed a lot together and seemed to hit it off quite well as friends do when meeting for the first time. At last, lunch ended and they parted ways promising each other that they would meet again sometime soon to continue their conversation elsewhere.
Helga continued her journey throughout England visiting many historic landmarks along the way: Stonehenge...Windsor Castle...The Tower of London...and more! She had a wonderful time seeing everything so new and different while also making new friends along the way including Bradley...the handsome man who sat across from her at lunch one day! She didn't know his last name nor where he lived exactly but that didn't matter much because now they were friends! And friends always keep in touch via email or phone every once in awhile just to say hello or tell each other about their latest adventures or accomplishments! That's what she told herself anyway when Bradley stopped writing back after just one month!
A year went by quickly after that and Helga returned home to Switzerland proud of all that she had seen but slightly saddened by how little contact she'd had with Bradley since their brief encounter many months ago. Fortunately for Helga though, she did keep in touch with several people she met during her travels including one person in particular...Katy! Katy was an American girl who had also traveled through England as well during that same year! They met one afternoon at Windsor Castle where Katy took pictures of all of the bright flowers growing in its gardens while Helga sat nearby reading a book! Katy took one last picture before putting away her camera saying "That's it!" Helga looked up at her smiling while saying "I'm glad we met!" And then Katy smiled back saying "Me too!" From that moment forward they became best friends always keeping close contact with each other while still continuing their adventures throughout Europe together! In fact when Helga returned home to Switzerland after visiting Prague just yesterday evening, Katy was there waiting at Zurich International Airport to greet her with flowers as well as hugs and kisses on both cheeks! Their friendship was strong like that! Stronger than any other friendship Helga had ever known because Katy never ever lied to her about anything no matter how bad it might be! Why? Because Katy promised! Promised never ever lie ever again after what happened between them years ago back in America when Katy was young and foolish doing things foolish kids sometimes do like drinking too much alcohol and then driving after dark without wearing a seatbelt which led to an accident leading to injuries leading to head trauma leading...to death...because even if you survive something like that you don't really live anymore afterwards unless you're lucky enough to get help from doctors which Katy wasn't lucky enough to get because somebody else died instead leaving poor Katy alone on earth grieving the loss of nobody! So there you have it folks: your moral of today's story is simple: Don't drink too much alcohol or drive after dark without wearing your seatbelt because if you do you will die or somebody else will die instead leaving you alone on earth grieving their loss which won't make either of you feel better no matter how good your friend is at consoling you because sometimes things are just bad no matter how hard you try to make them good which means sometimes your best friend has no choice but lie to protect your feelings because being honest is just too painful even if honesty is better all around which is why lying is sometimes best for everybody involved including yourself because nobody wants bad things happening all the time so let's all promise never ever lie ever again shall we? Good!! Now please pass me my red wine glass so I can finish this bottle before Katy gets here because I have something important I need to talk with her about right away!! Thank you everyone!!
