Jade Taunts the Demonites: A Sonic Adventure
·
Published 6/8/2023A brave and bold American girl, Jade, recklessly mocks and belittles an insecure demon-possessed Sonic the Hedgehog game, naive to the deadly consequences her defiance may unleash, sparking a thrilling battle of wits with dire stakes.

I sat in my room, controller in hand, laughing at the game. I hadn't played this one in a while, and the glitches were hilarious.
I laughed as Tails fell into the abyss, looking back at me with his wide eyes full of fear. I laughed as Shadow and Rouge disappeared before being sucked into black holes, never to be seen again. I laughed as Big the Cat's head went flying off his body when he tried to help Sonic while fighting Eggman. (I used to like Big.) I laughed as Amy Rose screamed as her arms were ripped off by Robotnik's machine, blood gushing everywhere. I laughed--
And then there was silence.
I lowered my glance from the screen to my controller. The "start" button wasn't glowing anymore. The screen was dark and still, with no music playing or anything else.
"Huh?" I said aloud, pressing a few buttons on my controller. Still nothing happened. Weird glitch in a weird glitchy game. Shrugging it off, I pressed the reset button on my console and waited for it to load up again.
It didn't. In fact, nothing happened at all after that point; not even a simple *beep* to let me know the power was still on. It was just dead silent outside of my room, which meant... shit! My mom had probably gotten home early and turned off the power! As quietly as I could without tripping over any of my crap on the floor (which wasn't very quiet), I put down my controller and tip-toed towards my door to look out into the hallway.
No one was there, thank goodness, but that didn't make me feel any better about being stuck in my room with no way to get out until she decided to leave again or until she went to bed... which might actually be earlier tonight if it's getting so late already! Sighing, I slowly walked back over to my chair and plopped down in it with a groan, resting my head on top of the plastic casing surrounding my TV/console combo. Maybe if I stay here long enough she'll just forget she turned it off? Nahhh... she'd just yell at me for wasting electricity or something equally stupid when she eventually did remember and came to check on me anyway before leaving again.
Suddenly thinking that maybe there was some kind of save function built into the game that might've been activated due to how long it'd been since anyone played it last or something like that--because why would they have thought of that?--I pressed start again... only to find that nothing happened at all this time either! Pressing other buttons produced no different results than before; it was like pressing them did absolutely nothing at all!
"What kind of fucking shitty game are you?!" I yelled at the screen after several moments of trying everything I could think of. "Are you broken now too?!"
