Unchaining Prom Night: #NERDLOVE #LOVEWINS

The sky was dark, lit only by the light of the moon. The wind was blowing hard, and a man in a sharp suit was standing outside of the school's gymnasium glaring at me with pure hatred in his eyes.

"You've got some nerve." He said to me, and I suddenly remembered who he was. Mr. Mann, my English teacher. "I'm doing this for myself." I replied sternly as I walked through the doors of the gymnasium. The music was playing softly in the background, it was Rihanna's Diamonds, one of my favorites. I stepped into the gymnasium, and saw an empty dance floor, surrounded by chairs. As I looked at all of the chairs, they all had girl's names on them. I rolled my eyes at how cliche this was, how many kids have done this before? Then it hit me, there were only four girls left to ask.

I started walking around and found that three girls were taken. That just left one girl named Emily whom I had never talked to out of all these girls in here. You could say that she's no one special, but she is cute with her brown hair and adorable smile which so happens to be on her face right now as she looks up from her phone and sees me standing in front of her chair. She places her phone on the table and crosses her arms with an annoyed look on her face as she stares up at me with a slightly furrowed brow, waiting for me to explain why I'm interrupting her night like this. "I have a question." I mumble after a few seconds of silence. Emily scoffs and rolls her eyes at me before replying sarcastically: "Sure you do."

I grin, "Actually yeah I do." She groans and throws up her hands in defeat as she stands up from her chair and walks over to me before asking what it is that I need to talk about so badly that I would interrupt her time here at prom with someone else. "What is it?" She asks me impatiently as she folds her arms tightly over each other while looking at me impatiently with mild annoyance in her eyes. After a few more seconds of silence where I stare blankly back into her eyes until she blinks first and breaks eye contact with me before looking down at the ground while biting down on her lip nervously due to how awkward this situation is making us both feel right now as we stand here next to each other looking awkwardly into each other's faces while talking to each other without saying anything just yet until finally after another few seconds of silence passes between us that I decide to break the silence between us by saying what it is that I came here tonight for tonight when suddenly Emily yells out loud "WHAT DO YOU WANT WITH ME?" Startling whoever happened to be within earshot of us both when suddenly their conversations are cut short as they turned their heads around when they heard Emily yell out loud causing them to stare at us both as if we were strange creatures from another planet like we're freaks or something before turning their heads away from us once again as if we weren't even there anymore once they realized what we were doing or rather who we were interrupting them for which caused Emily and myself to break eye contact with one another once again before looking down at the ground while biting down hard on our lips nervously because of how embarrassing this moment right now is making us both feel right now since neither of us had planned to do anything like this tonight when suddenly after a few more moments of silence pass between us that Emily says "If you don't tell me what it is you want with me then you can leave."

I sigh before replying "Can I take your jacket off?" Before lifting up my hands slowly towards Emily's jacket zipper which causes Emily to blush deeply before replying back "Sure." Before grabbing hold onto my hands with hers before peeling off my jacket off my shoulders since I ended up forgetting my jacket somewhere else earlier tonight anyway because sometimes things just happen that way no matter how much you plan.
