Enigma of Manipro

"You're not going."

"I'm an adult, I can do whatever I want."

"Not when it involves you getting yourself killed. You're not going and that's final."

Luna let out a frustrated groan before walking away from the arguing pair of siblings, storming off into the living room. Sam was just as frustrated with his older sister as she was with him, but he needed to maintain his temper. Luna was still grieving for their parents and needed someone to be on her side. He knew that if there was anyone that could snap her out of her funk, it would be him. Unfortunately for him, the only way he could do that for her was by telling her exactly what he thought about the situation.

Their parents had died in an accident, or so they'd wanted everyone to think. It turned out that they had been involved in some dangerous research involving Manipro, a new technology that allowed users to manipulate reality itself. Their deaths had been covered up by the government and they were left in the care of their aunt and uncle who moved them from their home in Seattle to a small town in New Hampshire where they could live a normal life and maybe forget about everything that happened back home.

It had been months since then and Sam could no longer keep pretending like everything was okay and that Luna didn't need to know about their parents' death. He wanted to tell her so many times but his uncle always stopped him, telling him not to ruin Luna's life any further than it already was by burdening her with knowledge of the dangers surrounding their lives. But one day while Luna was away at school, Sam told his uncle that he couldn't keep this a secret anymore. His uncle told him that everything would be fine as long as they agreed to leave Luna ignorant of their real lives back home. And now here they were, with his uncle trying to talk sense into Luna and make sure she stayed safe while Sam fought just as hard to make sure she knew why she should leave this place behind forever. If there was any way for them to end this once and for all, it would be for Luna to learn about Manipro and how dangerous it all really is.

Sam sat on the couch in the dimly lit living room, deep in thought. He couldn't shake the feeling that he had failed Luna, failed to protect her from the truth of their parents' deaths and the secret world they had been a part of. He knew his uncle meant well, wanting to shield Luna from the dangers that had taken their parents' lives, but Sam couldn't bear the weight of the secret any longer.

A soft knock on the front door interrupted Sam's turmoil. He glanced at the clock—10:30 PM. Who could be visiting at this hour?

Sam cautiously approached the door, peeking through the peephole. A tall figure stood on the porch, shrouded in darkness. Sam's heart raced in his chest as he recognized the man. It was Dr. Coleman, his parents' colleague and the one who had introduced them to the world of Manipro.

Swallowing his fear, Sam opened the door. Dr. Coleman's face was etched with weariness, lines of worry marring his features. His eyes were bloodshot, as if he hadn't slept in days.

"Sam," Dr. Coleman said, his voice thick with urgency. "We don't have much time. You need to come with me."

Sam's heart pounded, but he hesitated. How could he leave Luna behind, especially now that he had decided to reveal the truth to her?

Dr. Coleman must have sensed his reluctance. "I understand your concerns, Sam, but Luna is safer here than she would be in the dark. She needs to know the truth, to be prepared for what's coming."

Sam's mind raced. He thought of Luna, her fiery spirit, and her need for answers. If he were to leave her, he needed to make sure she would be protected. But how could he do that?

"Just give me a moment," Sam said to Dr. Coleman. He rushed back into the living room where Luna still sat, lost in her own thoughts.

"Luna," Sam began, his voice shaking. "I need to tell you something, something about our parents."

Luna looked up, her eyes searching his face. "What is it, Sam?"

Taking a deep breath, Sam explained. He told her about their parents' involvement with Manipro, the dangerous research, and their ultimate sacrifice. He revealed the truth they had hidden from her for so long.

Luna's brows furrowed as she listened, her anger giving way to confusion and pain. "Why would they keep this from me, Sam?"

Tears welled in Sam's eyes as he answered, "They wanted to protect you, to give you a chance at a normal life. They loved you so much, Luna."

Luna's gaze softened as she processed the weight of the truth. "So, what now?"

Sam wiped away his tears, his resolve strengthening. "Now, we have a choice to make. Dr. Coleman is here. He says it's not safe for us to stay."

Luna's eyes widened, fear intertwining with determination. "We can't let their sacrifice be in vain. We can't hide anymore. If this Manipro thing is as dangerous as you say, then we need to fight, Sam. For them."

Sam nodded, relief washing over him. "I've been thinking the same thing. We need to go with Dr. Coleman. He can help us."

Luna stood up, a newfound strength radiating from her. "Let's do it, Sam. Let's face this head-on."
