The stench of blood and shit was overpowering. I pressed my hand over my mouth and nose in a fruitless attempt to block out the smells. I could see the creature in front of me, but all I could smell was that mucky, fecal, metallic scent. I rolled my eyes and took a deep breath before pulling my hand away.

I looked at the ancient beast.

He didn't look old at all. There were no wrinkles, no sagging skin or any other signs of age whatsoever. He just looked... bored. As if he had been waiting for someone ever since he arrived on this planet and they had finally showed up after years of delay. He had seen everything from this world by now. The atmosphere was different when you were 5 billion years old. There really wasn't anything new for him to find here anymore.

"So," I said, "what's your deal?"

The creature shook his head as if he was sorry to disappoint me before answering in a guttural voice.

"For you? A single soul." The creature shrugged, "Honestly though, you've pretty much fucked up my plans so whatever you have to offer will do."

I nodded, "That's what people say about me too."

I shot him with my gun and the light beam hit his armor as easily as air hitting air. I watched with wide eyes as nothing happened.

"See?" said the creature, "Nothing new here."

He quickly kicked me in the chest and sent me flying backward, then he grabbed me by my throat and lifted me into the air effortlessly, squeezing tightly around my neck until black spots danced in front of my eyes. He threw me down onto the ground next to him and pinned me there with one large foot on my back, holding me down against the dirt with ease while his hand wrapped around my throat again so tight that I couldn't even breathe anymore and my vision began to dim. Suddenly however, he snapped his hand away from my neck and let go of me completely before walking away casually as if nothing happened at all. It took a moment for me to get myself together again before I slowly stood up straight and dusted myself off before looking at him questioningly.

The creature shrugged nonchalantly while looking at something behind me that made his lips curl into a slight smile, "You're not worth it." And then he walked right past me towards where somebody else stood behind me, "Now someone like him is definitely worth more than one soul!"
