Published 6/3/2023Cyborg scientist Aza Miller must face down menacing forces and use her colleague Sarah Trivantos' strange, transforming powers in a face-sitting femme fatale showdown to save the interplanetary human civilization of Helios.
"Sarah, wake up!" I gently shook her shoulder.
"Aza? What are you doing here?" Sarah asked groggily.
"I've been working on the new neural implant we're going to try on the next batch of test subjects, and I thought it might be a good idea to observe your brain wave patterns while you're under anesthesia."
"Oh? Okay, that sounds like a pretty good idea." She sat up in her chair, still half asleep. "What do you need me to do?"
"Well, we'll want to start by monitoring your brain activity for a few minutes, so go ahead and lie down on the table here." I pointed to the slab of cold stainless steel behind me. "Once we've got that down, we'll move into the main experiment. Are you ready for this?"
"Ready as ever." Sarah grinned as she lay down on the flat surface. "Let's do it."
I held my breath as I slid the metallic electrode into place on her temple. The whirring of the machine grew louder as it started collecting data from her brain waves.
