I sit in the bathroom and flush the toilet.

The school bus is going to be here soon, and I know my parents are waiting for me.

"Ana honey, hurry up," my mother calls from the kitchen. "You know we have to leave early to get your sister to her soccer practice."

I can hear my little sister screaming from behind the door, "I'm gonna be late! I'm gonna be late!"

"Shut up, Gabrielle," I call back as I wipe off my hands on a towel and walk out of the bathroom. I pick through the pile of clothes on the floor and grab my backpack.

"Have you seen my hat?" My father sticks his head around the corner. He holds his keys up in one hand and a cup of coffee in the other. "I need to be at work by two."

My little sister runs into the room, her hair still wet from our shower this morning. She's wearing her favorite pink Hello Kitty jacket and it makes me smile. She's so cute sometimes.

"Daddy, can't Ana take me to school? She was going to bring me anyway." Her little eyes plead with him as she bounces up and down on her toes.

"That's why you're wearing your jacket." My mother glances at us over her shoulder as she stirs three eggs in a bowl on the countertop. "Hurry up now, or we'll all be late."
