The Weaver's Web: A Multiversal Threat.
·
Published 11/28/2023“Where am I?” Miles groaned as he sat up.
The alleyway was dark and quiet. He couldn’t see the streetlights or hear the sounds of traffic. It was like he had been transported to another world.
“Miles!” a voice called out, making him jump to his feet.
He turned to see Gwen Stacy, aka Spider-Gwen, running towards him.
“You’re okay!” she said, relief in her voice. “We’ve been looking everywhere for you.”
“We?” Miles asked, confused.
Before Gwen could answer, a portal opened up behind her and Peter B. Parker stepped out.
“There you are,” he said with a sigh of relief. “You gave us quite the scare.”
“What happened?” Miles asked. “One minute we were fighting Spot and the next…”
“The Weaver got involved,” Peter explained. “They can manipulate reality and they used their powers to separate us.”
“They’re trying to reshape the multiverse,” Gwen added. “And we need your help to stop them.”
“I don’t know…” Miles started, but before he could finish, another portal opened up and Penny Parker stepped through.
“There you are!” she said with a smile as SP//dr climbed off her back and ran over to Miles.
“Hey girl,” he said with a smile as he petted her head. “I missed you too.”
“We have a plan,” Penny said as she joined the group. “But we need all of us together in order for it to work.”
“What’s the plan?” Miles asked.
“We need The Weaver’s attention focused on us so that The Spot can attack them from behind,” Peter explained. “But in order for it to work, we all need to be connected by our webs.”
“And since you have bio-electric venom blasts that can disrupt The Weaver’s powers…” Gwen started with a grin.
“You get to be bait,” they finished together.
“Great,” Miles said with a sigh. “Just great.”
“We’ll be right there with you,” Gwen assured him. “And as soon as The Spot makes his move, we’ll all attack together.”
Miles nodded and took a deep breath. He was scared, but he knew that he had to do this. The fate of the multiverse depended on it.
“Let’s do this,” he said, and the others nodded in agreement.
They all shot their webs towards Miles, connecting themselves to him and forming a circle. Then they waited.
It didn’t take long for The Weaver to appear. They stepped out of a portal, their eyes glowing with power.
“So nice of you all to join me,” they said with a smile that sent shivers down Miles’ spine.
“Leave them alone!” he shouted, his voice filled with determination.
The Weaver’s smile widened and they raised an eyebrow at him.
“And who are you supposed to be?” they asked mockingly.
“I’m Spider-Man,” Miles said, his voice steady despite the nerves he felt inside. “And I’m here to stop you.”
The Weaver laughed and shook their head.
“You really think you can stop me?” they asked. “I am The Weaver. I control the very fabric of reality itself.”
“We’ll see about that,” Miles said, his voice filled with confidence now.
Suddenly, The Spot appeared behind The Weaver and launched an attack. The Weaver quickly turned their attention away from the group and focused on defending themselves against their attacker.
Now was their chance.
Miles shot his venom blasts at The Weaver, disrupting their powers just like Penny had said it would. As soon as he did, the others attacked as well, using their webs to pull The Spot away from The Weaver and trap him in a web cocoon.
The Weaver struggled against them but couldn’t break free. They glared at Miles, their eyes filled with anger.
“You will pay for this,” they hissed, and then disappeared in a puff of smoke.
“Did we do it?” Miles asked, looking around at the others.
But before anyone could answer, the ground beneath them started to shake. They all looked down and watched in horror as cracks appeared in the pavement and spread outwards like a spider’s web.
“What’s happening?” Gwen asked, her voice filled with panic.
“I think we broke something,” Peter said, his voice filled with dread.
The cracks continued to spread until the ground beneath them gave way completely. They all screamed as they fell into darkness.
When they landed, it was with a thud that knocked the wind out of them. As they struggled to catch their breaths, they looked around and realized that they were back in their own dimension.
“We did it!” Penny said with a grin as she helped Miles to his feet. “We stopped The Weaver!”
“But what about The Spot?” Gwen asked. “Is he still here?”
They all turned to look at where The Spot had been trapped in the web cocoon, but he was gone.
“Oh no,” Peter groaned. “Not again.”
“What do we do now?” Miles asked, feeling overwhelmed by everything that had happened.
“We regroup,” Peter said. “And then we come up with a new plan.”
“And this time,” Gwen added with a determined look on her face. “We make sure that The Spot doesn’t get away.”
Miles nodded and felt a surge of confidence inside him. He knew that whatever came next, they would face it together as a team.
