Seth's Forbidden Storm
·
Published 2/13/2023Desperate, snarky Seth battles a menacing demonic scorpion in a mysterious virtual reality to survive an alternative timeline and defeat a powerful group of mages in a race against time full of violent confrontations, moral contradictions, and unexpected discoveries.
And so I found myself on the distant planet, with nothing but a knife to my name and a quest ahead of me.
Well, that’s not entirely true. I did have a bow and arrows. The bow was good quality, and so were the arrows. If I had some poison to put on them I could kill the scorpion and be on my way. But it wasn’t just any scorpion, it wasn’t just some 85th level boss monster. It was the demonic scorpion, a creature spawned by chaos itself to destroy all life on this planet. The only thing standing in its way was me.
The game gave me two options: run or fight. I guess it would be best to find some food and take a rest before fighting it. Maybe if I see it up close I can think of some strategy or something to help me kill it without getting killed myself. As I walked through the dense forest I got more lost than ever before. It was like this game didn’t have any path-finding at all, and after about an hour of walking around aimlessly the sun began to set and the great beast decided that now was the time for its hunt. I looked up at the sky as giant red eyes burned into my soul and saw with horror that it was chasing me down. Trying to outrun a giant demon scorpion is no easy task, especially when you are carrying a bow and arrows in one hand while desperately trying to hold your pants up with the other while running at full speed through some sort of mossy bog.
I looked back frantically as its tail smashed trees aside like they were twigs, gaining ground on me quickly. There was a small hill in front of me which I thought maybe I could use to my advantage as I climbed atop it and waited for the beast to arrive with bated breath. As soon as it arrived at the hilltop I jumped down from my hillside perch and shot an arrow into its eye which sent it flying backwards against another tree, squirming in agony as dark smoke rose from its eyeball where the arrow had pierced it. Taking advantage of this opportunity, I took out more than half of its health in one fell swoop before running away again before it could get up from the ground and continue chasing me down.
It took another three hours for me to finally put an end to that beast once and for all by landing three perfect shots in its face within five seconds, causing it to collapse into a pile of smoking ash that used to be its body moments ago. Then suddenly there appeared in front of me a beautiful woman who introduced herself as Eluna Diasporem, who then proceeded to thank me for saving her people from destruction at the hands of that monster. She then offered me reward: a place among her people as one of their own once she conquered this world with their kind magic users like herself who created this planet in which we currently resided upon together, along with twelve other worlds they once lived upon long ago before they split apart into thirteen different worlds long ago when they were invaded by demons like that one that attacked us today, thus causing them all to scatter throughout these worlds in order to escape certain death at their hands instead until someone defeats all thirteen demons first in order to lift their curse upon them and save their lives once again from certain death at their hands instead along with mine when she offered her hand towards me asking if I would accept her invitation or not after just saving my life from death's grasp moments earlier?
I looked down at her beautiful smile shining bright against her pale skin shining brightly underneath the light of billions of stars surrounding our planet before reaching out towards her hand offering myself joining her people here on this new world made by them long ago using mysterious powers hidden deep within themselves along with those ancient ones including myself whom they look up towards every day wishing for salvation from our enemies before finally accepting her offer knowing full well that accepting meant joining them no matter what happens next forevermore never able to return home ever again afterwards never again seeing those faces smiling back at you during those days back home while sacrificing everything you knew back home including your family, friends, job or whatever else you left behind behind you knowing full well going forward there is no turning back ever again once accepted because there is no turning back ever again for anyone accepted joining them accepting their offer telling them yes...
