Whispered Secrets

Rosa is a hamster with an extraordinary talent: she can speak Portuguese! Her owner, Emma, loves to chat with Rosa and tell her about her day. One afternoon, as Rosa settled into her exercise wheel for a spin, the familiar sound of Emma’s voice called out from the living room. “Hi Rosa! How was your day today?”

Just as Rosa was about to respond, she noticed something strange happening to the room. The walls seemed to be closing in on her and were getting bigger and bigger. The furniture began moving around rapidly, like it was being sucked into a giant swirling vortex.

“Emma!” cried Rosa. “Help!” But Emma couldn’t hear her or see what was happening.

As the vortex grew stronger, it sucked Rosa and her exercise wheel in with it. Faster and faster they spun until everything suddenly went black.

When Rosa finally opened her eyes again, she found herself looking out on a picturesque village filled with narrow cobblestone streets lined with colorful houses. A large orange tree stood at the entrance of each house with hammocks strung between them.

A group of small animals gathered around Rosa while others sold flowers or made baskets on the sides of the street.

Looking down at herself, she gasped when she saw that she wasn’t in her cage anymore but rather outside… running free!

“Who are you? And where did you come from?” asked an old rat who looked wise.

“I’m Rosa,” replied the little hamster shyly. “I think I came from England but I’m not sure how I got here.”

The old rat nodded thoughtfully and said: “You’re in Brazil - Rio de Janeiro to be exact - our home.”

Another animal overheard their conversation and chimed in:

“Yes! You came from that big blue spinning thingy! It ate my friend, a parrot named Eduardo, just the other day. We haven’t seen him since.”

“Oh no,” Rosa said softly. “That sounds like the same thing that happened to me.”

The old rat looked at her kindly: “Our home is a beautiful place filled with love and joy but for some unknown reason, it’s being threatened by a dark force that’s trying to destroy it. We believe this force is coming from that blue vortex you mentioned. Many of our friends have been taken away and never returned as you just heard.”

Rosa felt tears prick her eyes as she thought of Emma looking for her.

“We may not be able to help you return home but we can keep you safe while here with us,” offered the wise rat.

Days turned into weeks and weeks turned into months. The animals in Rio de Janeiro became Rosa's new family and she was grateful for their kindness.

But she couldn't stop thinking about Emma and how worried she must be. She knew she needed to find a way back home.

One night, when the animals were all sleeping, Rosa snuck out of her cozy hammock and made her way back to where it had all started - the vortex.

She studied it carefully, then closed her eyes and focused on Emma's face.

"Please help me," whispered Rosa.

Suddenly, a flash of light burst through the swirling blue mass - revealing Eduardo in his cage!

Eduardo told rosa he had been trying to find his way back since he arrived in Brazil...

Togethers they were able to break free of glass...returning both homes

Reunited once again Edwardo helped Rosa explain everything

It turns out Eduardo knew much more than anyone would have guessed...

Emma discovered she had an abundance of love and friendship waiting for her every time she stepped outside her front door.

Emma's new friends spoke different languages, wore fur or feathers and some had 4 legs but all were kind and supportive. And Emma felt truly blessed to have them in her life.

“I can’t believe you’re back!” Eduardo exclaimed when he saw Rosa there with him. “How did you do it?”

Rosa smiled as she explained how she had focused on her love for Emma to help break through the vortex.

"Do you think we can do it together?" Eduardo asked hopefully. "I've been trying to get back home ever since I got here."

Together, they put all their energy into breaking free of their cages. As they pushed against the glass, cracks began to form until finally, it shattered into a million pieces.

They floated out of the blue vortex together and found themselves transported back into the living room where the vortex was resting.

Emma entered the room and gasped when she saw two creatures standing before her instead of one. Her eyes widened as Rosa explained everything and for a moment, Emma thought maybe this was all just a dream.

But then she heard Rosa say: “It’s so good to be home again.” And she knew it wasn't a dream after all.
