"Hey what can you do?"

The gate opened up, and the world began to spin.

"You alright there, little lady?" The man asked, as I tried to steady myself on my feet. I looked up at him, and he was a giant of a man, tall and broad shouldered, but he had a kind face. He seemed strong. But he also seemed nervous. "You fell out of that gate just like it was the most natural thing in the world."

I looked down at my hands, which were stained with blood. "I guess I did."

He smiled at me. "Well you're not dead. That's good, right? And you didn't seem scared of the gate or anything."

"No," I replied, looking back into the gate that had now closed behind him, "I wasn't scared."

"You sure about that?" He asked again, looking around himself at all of the strange things in this world that must have been so foreign to him. A lot of it seemed recognizable: Stone roads that looked like they were from Medieval times, people dressed like they could be from any period of time from the last few hundred years all standing around talking with each other in a small town square. Some things were more alien: The small blue flowers growing out of cracks in the ground and the giant black birds circling overhead occasionally screeching so loud that everyone in the town would stop what they were doing and cover their ears until they flew away. But what really stood out to me was his clothes: They looked like something that someone would wear if they were going to a Renaissance Faire or an Irish pub or something like that. His shirt was loose fitting and light colored, while his pants were dark with lots of pockets and buttons and little designs on them. It was beautiful clothing. I couldn't help but stare at it when we first met.
