The library was a haven, an oasis in the wasteland. The world outside was cruel and unforgiving, but within the library’s walls, time slowed, and peace reigned.

It had once been a place of knowledge, of learning and discovery. Now it was a sanctuary for survivors. The shelves were filled with books that held secrets of the past, tales of love and adventure, knowledge long forgotten.

But there was something else in those pages. A magic that went beyond words on paper. A power that transported readers to another world entirely.

The first to discover this were two young men – Jack and Finn – who stumbled upon the library while searching for supplies. They found themselves drawn to a particular book: a tattered old tome with no title on its spine.

Curiosity got the better of them, and they began to read. As they turned each page, they were pulled deeper into the story until suddenly, they were no longer in the library but on a pirate ship battling against sea monsters.

When they finally returned home – after surviving countless perils – their friends didn’t believe them. But when one by one they too disappeared into books only to return with tales of their own adventures, it became impossible to deny.

And so it was that the group made the library their new home. They scavenged for food and water during daylight hours before retreating back to safety as night fell. They slept on makeshift beds beneath towering shelves filled with stories yet untold.

But as more and more books were read, it became clear that there was something sinister about this newfound magic.

Once you entered a story’s world, you couldn’t leave until you completed some kind of quest or task dictated by the book itself.

At first these quests seemed harmless enough: retrieve an ancient artifact from a hidden tomb; slay an evil sorcerer threatening peaceful villagers; find true love’s kiss to break an enchantment.

But as the genres grew darker and more varied, so too did the quests: survive a zombie apocalypse; defeat an army of vampires; escape from a haunted house before sunrise.

The group grew smaller with each passing day. Some were killed by monsters or villains within the stories. Others completed their quests only to find themselves trapped in another book.

Those who remained grew desperate for answers. They searched the library for clues, but there was little to be found. The books were ancient and worn, their authors long forgotten.

Then one day, they stumbled upon a book unlike any they had seen before. It was bound in black leather, its pages edged with silver. It seemed to hum with power as they approached.

They hesitated, unsure if they should risk reading it. But they had come this far, faced countless dangers already. And so, with trepidation and hope in their hearts, they opened the book and began to read.

And then… everything went black.
