Lily's Cold Hearted Journey

"Lily, you need to get up. You haven't slept in two days."

"I'm going to be a magical girl! I can sleep when I'm dead!"

"Lily, you are a child."

"I'm almost fourteen!"

"You're thirteen and about to have an anxiety attack. Get in the living room couch and sleep it off before you get that cold heart back."

"But mum! I gotta catch them all! You know what happens if I don't catch them all!"

"Yes, you stop being magical. But if you get that cold heart again, we'll help you find a new hospital to go to. We love you no matter what, sweetheart."

The daughter of the house gently sighed as she walked away from her daughter's door and went into the living room. She picked up a blanket, gently wrapping it around her daughter's sleeping form as she sat on the couch next to her. Her husband walked into the living room soon after with Lily's mother looking at him with sorrowful eyes. He held her hand as he sat next to her and kissed her forehead. They both looked down at their daughter with longing eyes. They loved her so dearly but they knew that something was wrong with her heart. The doctors said that she had a cold heart but they didn't know why or how long it would last. It could be years or only hours for all they knew. All they could do was support their daughter and hope for the best.

When Lily woke up, she found herself in a familiar room even though it wasn't hers. The living room? No, that wasn't right. This room was where she spent most of her time at home but still felt like somewhere else altogether but she couldn't put her finger on where exactly... Then she remembered that this was her parents' bedroom and realized that she fell asleep on their bed while waiting for them to wake up so they could take her out hunting demons today since it finally stopped raining and was nice out again! Yay! Bring on the demonic fighting goodness! She jumped out of bed and went over to the dresser to pick out an outfit to wear before putting on some shoes. Since there was now some time before taking Ruby out for a walk, she decided to read some manga on the bed until dad got up and she could go eat breakfast with him first then head out on demon huntings! As she lay across the bed reading manga with one leg bent against her body like a sloth, another thought crossed her mind: would mom make me anything special for breakfast today? Maybe those cakes from yesterday? Oh my god those were so good!

*Ten minutes later* "Mum? Where did you put those cakes from yesterday?"

"They were delicious weren't they?"

"Yeah they were great!"

"Well we ate them all last night while watching your favorite show together."

"What!? Where'd they go!?" She held up the empty basket sadly in front of herself as tears started forming behind her glasses while asking, "Where did the cakes go?" Feeling disheartened, she started to sniffle, but not quite cry, which made the situation more somber because everyone knew that Lily had been trying her hardest to stay cheerful despite her circumstances. Adding to the complexity of the situation was the fact that Lily did not have a romantic partner and was only 13 years old, making everyone unsure about the root cause of her sadness.

Sometime after, it was hard not to wonder if something had happened between Lily and Jessica during a recent school incident, in which Jessica made an advance towards Lily while practicing magic together after class ended early. This made Lily uncomfortable, and it seemed that ever since then, Jessica had been trying to avoid Lily. However, some people noticed that Jessica occasionally glanced at Lily when she thought nobody was looking, raising questions about Jessica's true intentions.

Whether Jessica actually liked Lily or had some other motive like blackmail remained unknown, and no one could predict what might happen between the two girls in the future. With both families being very protective of their daughters, it was essential to ensure their safety from every angle - especially with regard to potential romantic advances. This made things even more awkward for Lily and Jessica, who had spent a considerable amount of time together prior to the incident at school.
