Lost Legend of the Island: An Epic Adventure
·
Published 4/28/2023Fearing the unknown, five brave strangers - Robert, Stefan, Kora, Lucas and Sonny - embark on a daring quest to an undiscovered island to uncover a long-lost, supernatural treasure, setting off an unexpected chain of events that will alter their lives forever.

I was the first to notice anything. The others were holding their breaths with anticipation and excitement, staring at the map laid out on the table. The silence didn’t last long though, because after a few moments I heard Kora groan as she shook her head in disbelief.
“What? How are we supposed to find this place?” She asked, her voice filled with frustration. “This island is supposed to be like a mile away from the coast, right? And it’s only marked by a small red X! How the hell are we supposed to find that?”
I couldn’t help but let out a slight chuckle, “It’s not impossible, Kora. We can just get a boat and start sailing along the coast until we see it. Probably shouldn’t take us too long.”
“Yeah, but you don’t understand! It could take all day to sail around and we might miss it! What if someone else finds it before us? What then?”
Lucas shrugged his shoulders indifferently as he raised his eyebrows and spoke up, “Who do you think would bother looking for an island that only has one X on it? It looks like they wrote it down in desperation anyway. A million other islands have more than one mark on them. This one probably doesn’t even exist anymore! If you look at the map of Australia, there are thousands of islands that don't have any marks or lines on them at all! So why waste our time with this one when we could be exploring something else entirely new? Something worth our time?”
Kora looked at Lucas in disbelief as if he had said something that she did not want to hear. Her voice was shaking when she responded, “You don't know what this means to me! You haven't even seen my family's treasure yet! You haven't been through what I've- how does this look!? I mean seriously!? A single red X!? For real!? This is so inconsiderate! So disrespectful! They're such pigs! My ancestors deserve so much better than this! This isn't fair at all! It's not right... I... I... I... ARGH!! HOW ARE WE SUPPOSED TO FIND THIS PLACE?! IT'S NOT EVEN ON THE MAP!!!
Realizing that I needed to step in before things got out of hand, I tapped Kora on her shoulder gently and put my hand on hers softly to calm her down. When she finally looked my way, I smiled warmly at her and said in the most reassuring tone possible: “Don't worry Kora. If we need any help finding our way back home later on while we're searching for this island, Lucas can use his magic to make a compass rose appear in the sky which will point us back home immediately. Even if there was no wind or waves or anything for us to follow back home after we set off from port - he could still make sure that we'd find our way home safely either way."
"What about food?" Sonny chimed in suddenly from behind me with a worried look on his face. "We'll need food for the trip and everything else like water too..." He trailed off before continuing, "And maps!" He exclaimed excitedly as he clapped his hands together excitedly and then started rummaging through his bag to check if he had packed all of his essentials already. "If I forgot any of these things then this trip could be over before it even begins!" Sonny continued fretting as he pulled various items out of his bags one by one while Lucas rolled his eyes and scoffed at him in disgust before turning back towards me. "Trust me man," He said nonchalantly as he waved both of his hands dismissively in front of him. "The sooner that we go on our little adventure - the sooner that we'll get back and party again." Then Lucas picked up his own bag before slinging it over his shoulder as he made his way towards the door leading outside before holding it open for everyone else as they filed out of the building behind him quietly without saying another word between them. On our way towards town, Lucas muttered under his breath: "Buncha killjoys..." As we continued walking slowly down the sidewalk together towards town.
