Frozen Futures: Agent 5's Battle Against the Apocalypse
·
Published 6/22/2023In a post-apocalyptic world battling against the forces of evil, an unexpected African-American secret agent emerges from suspended animation to lead a united army, human and extraterrestrial, against the anti-Christ. With courage and justice as his weapons, can Agent 5 preserve humanity's last hope and rewrite the fate of mankind?
I was once a secret agent guarding against the rising tide of evil. In my time I have seen terrible things, but nothing could prepare me for what I found today.
I was in the bowels of a mountain in the Rockies looking for information on some strange activity going on with the Russians when I found it. An odd wooden box that had been sealed shut long ago and was vibrating with a strange energy. I knew immediately that this was something bad, so I began to run back to my car when suddenly I passed out. Next thing I know, I'm waking up in a lab surrounded by these people in white robes. They were human but their skin was so pale and they had these large black eyes that were all pupil shaped. They moved around like they were in a trance, only talking to each other, never looking at anyone directly.
One of the robed figures noticed me and walked over with a needle in her hand, "Hello", she said as if from a long distance away, "You've been asleep for a very long time". She stuck me with the needle and everything went black again. When I woke up again the world had gone crazy! I saw people running around screaming like demons were chasing them and shooting each other in the streets! The sky burned red and there was ash everywhere! I ran back to my car but all the roads were blocked off by these metal structures that looked like they were made out of twisted metal bones, like some kind of organic cage!
I decided to take a cab instead and while I was inside it my phone rang and it was my boss telling me to get into an underground bunker as soon as possible and that he'd be waiting there. Naturally, being on high alert already, I told him to fuck off, so he sent some agents after me to bring me in. The cab driver let me out near my boss's bunker and told me where it was located before taking off down the road at full speed. He almost got hit by some crazy chick on a motorcycle who screamed at us before flipping us off and taking off down another street. As soon as he left though a black van turned onto the street behind him and started driving towards us really fast.
"GET OUT NOW!", shouted the driver through his window, so I ran for cover inside one of these small tunnels lined with concrete that snaked across the mountainside. The van sped past us but then stopped dead at an intersection where another van was blocking its path. Suddenly there was gunfire everywhere as armed men dressed all in black charged out of buildings on either side of the street and began firing wildly at each other! The van which had called out to me moments earlier tried to drive forward around them but he drove right into a third van that slammed into him head-on sending both vans crashing into nearby buildings which collapsed on top of them!
I started running towards my boss's bunker again when two motorcycles came speeding past me flying down the tunnel towards whatever battle raged above us. One bike sped past me but bounced off the tunnel wall before flipping over backwards and sending its rider flying through one of these concrete pillars lining the tunnel until he ended up laying facedown on top of one of these steel girders holding up this concrete ceiling above us! His body flopped around like some rag doll until finally gravity took over and his body slipped down between those steel beams until his head ended up smashing against one of them repeatedly until little pieces of brain splattered across the tunnel floor! The second motorcyclist must have lost control because his bike flew off course and crashed straight into one of those girders holding up this concrete ceiling, sending both him and his bike crashing through it where they landed way below us somewhere near where his buddy ended up lying faceup staring at this weird blue light shining down from above him!
A few minutes later someone finally found me hiding under one of these metal structures blocking off one end of this tunnel who told me they'd take me to my boss if I followed them, who took me across town to an old subway station where we boarded this train headed for an old base just outside DC where my boss said we'd be safer than here where all these warring factions were fighting each other everywhere. After riding this train for hours we finally reached our destination where we entered through an underground sub base hidden under this old abandoned military base which we reached by traveling through a strange glowing blue portal hidden in some ancient ruins underneath DC which my boss said no one knew about except him anyway. My boss thanked me for helping him out here today because he obviously couldn't have done any of it without my help today and told me he owed me big time for saving his ass like this today! He also told me since we were both stuck here together now we'd make great partners because no matter what happens from now on we'll always be able to look back on this day together as our first day working together as partners!
As we settled into the underground sub base, the air felt heavy with tension. The walls were adorned with surveillance screens displaying scenes of chaos unfolding on the surface. The world outside was crumbling, torn apart by the clashing factions battling for control. My boss, known only as Agent Reynolds, led me through a maze of corridors until we reached his office—a small, dimly lit room with a single desk and a worn-out leather chair. The room smelled of old books and stale coffee.
"Sit down, son," Agent Reynolds said, gesturing to the chair. His voice was gruff, yet there was a hint of warmth buried deep within. "We're in deep trouble now, but we've got each other. That counts for something."
I took a seat and surveyed the room, my mind still reeling from the events of the day. "What the hell is happening out there?" I asked, my voice barely above a whisper.
Reynolds sighed and leaned back in his chair. "These people," he said with a tone of contempt, "the ones in the white robes? They call themselves The Collective. They've been working on a mind control experiment for years, and it seems they've finally unleashed it on the world. Those pale-skinned, black-eyed creatures—they're not human anymore. They're puppets, mere vessels for The Collective's control."
I listened intently, my hands clenched into fists at the thought of innocent people being manipulated like marionettes on a string. "What can we do, Reynolds? How can we fight against something like this?"
He leaned forward and fixed his piercing gaze on me. "We need to find the source of their power, the central hub that controls this mind control network. Take them down, and the rest will crumble. But it won't be easy. The Collective has resources and influence we can't even comprehend. We'll need to gather allies, people who haven't fallen under their spell."
With resolve burning in his eyes, Reynolds pulled up a holographic map on his desk. "We've identified a few resistance groups scattered across the continent. They're small, but they're fighting back. Our first step is to make contact with them and see if we can establish a common goal."
I nodded, feeling a newfound sense of purpose coursing through my veins. "Where do we start, Reynolds?"
"The west coast," he replied, his voice filled with determination. "We've received word of a resistance faction in Los Angeles, led by a former military strategist named Colonel Donovan. If anyone can help us navigate this warzone, it's him."
We spent the next few hours devising a plan, gathering intelligence, and arming ourselves for the battles to come. As the night wore on, the sub base came alive with activity. Agents hurriedly prepared for the journey to the west coast, their faces a mix of fear and determination.
Finally, the hour arrived, and we stood at the entrance of the underground sub base. We were a small group, but with Reynolds leading the way, I knew we had a chance. The tunnel before us stretched endlessly toward the unknown, a path filled with danger and uncertainty. But as I glanced at my boss, a man who had once been a stranger to me, I realized that sometimes, in this desolate and chaotic world, you find the people who will stand with you no matter what.
Together, we stepped forward, ready to face the horrors that awaited us in that post-apocalyptic landscape. Our journey had just begun, but I knew deep in my heart that as partners, Reynolds and I were destined to become legends, carving our way through the shadows and restoring hope to a world on the brink of destruction.
