Flourishing on Mars: Bianca's Journey

Bianca packs her bags with a heavy heart as she nervously glances around her home, seeing all the familiar things she's leaving behind on Earth. Everywhere she looks are memories, symbols of the life she once lived. She sulks about on the transport ship to Mars, dreading the inevitable change hanging before her. Finally, they make landfall in the new Mars Base. Bianca steps onto the red dust in terror, and her peers look at her with an uncertain gaze. Even her own parents seem uncertain to their new footing. Bianca feels isolated and lonely, thinking their stay surely won't last long. Little do they know, their life in Mars will be longer than they could have ever anticipated. Despite her image of loneliness and discontent, in the background Bianca feels a strange pull like a hidden but powerful force. She realizes that her peers and the local citizens at Base look to her for their leadership. Fate has given her the chance to prove herself as a leader and learn of the true gifts Mars has to offer.

Though her parents begin to take opportunities and make new relationships, it's Bianca who takes the initiative to venture out into the dust. She trades jests with the local teens, always the first to greet them with a winning smile. Though at first the local teens are taken aback by the sudden change, they find they have much in common. Bianca and the locals share laughter and secrets, and by growing closer she meets other Mars natives who don't quite fit the mold that have had to cope for years with the hostile Mars conditions. Bit by bit, Bianca begins to preen away at the veneer of Martian culture, coupled with stories from Earth, and a wild array of trades and talents from her new group. This is truly inspired by Bianca's new found confidence and boldness, something she found hidden in the depths of her heart that no one could have known about. As this new global unification begins, Bianca is the face which the masses of Mars back, the petite cheerleader for a bold merger of multiple cultures, which would once have seemed unfathomable.

Groups across the planet are shaking and grounds don't only tremble with excitement, but also with fear. Those in power stir and whisper rumours around, gaining popular traction through various factions, all with their own hidden agenda. The tables turn on Bianca, she starts experiencing intense depression. She cannot seem to handle the newfound political pressure and expectations on her capabilities to form one unified Martian front. All see her as the seer of a new era, the rock solid hope of it all, and she starts clinging to those pressures and expectations. Feeling like she’s reached a breaking point, Bianca steps back from the mobilization, instead opting to merely watch from afar instead of take a role in it. Unexpectedly came news of a secret underground base in the deepest parts of the planet, a place where new forms of unimaginable technology were being hacked and produced to help alleviate the harsh conditions and appearance of pro-Mars unions. As expected, a portion of the groups in favour debated and argued the best course of action to take, but Bianca resolutely held her ground, saying that it was up to science and logic, actions instead of words, to ensure revitalizing the red planet.

Support appears to waver as doubts rise and divides abound, until Bianca and her brave followers press further into the depths of the dark planet. Ulexitons, miraculously remaining unharmed and living organisms, are discovered and solutions begin to develop. Those previously doubting now stand together and the dream of a unified, self-sufficient Mars starts becoming tangible. Using her courageous attitude and the newfound knowledge that was smuggled out of the depths of Mars, Bianca holds a rally to discuss what she wants. Old divides rise up but she never swayed. The tide had turned and Bianca was there as a leader to seize that change. In that moment, every person on Mars finally cheered for the same cause for a unified effort towards the same planet and a better future, individually and communally. At last, Bianca finally gathers the strength she needed to forge a conclusion and how the planet will be governed in this new era. Though it’s not what everyone expected, Bianca knew it was for the greater good and founded a constitutional government in which the diverse originators of Mars can look upon a common agreement and joyously move forward. With the new leadership, Bianca soon finds that Mars can truly be a place of growth and transformation, and with her brave adventure, the planet has been pushed to future innovation and strong civil society.
