It was a perfect day. The sky was clear and the winds were light. Just enough to make the sea waves dance upon the sand. A perfect day for a walk in the beach. It had been almost 3 years since I last came here, it was where I proposed to my wife and I brought her here many times as well. We went everywhere together and we even shared the same interests in some fashion which made our lives more meaningful.
I first met her during one of my trips to Europe, she was from France but moved to England because of her studies. Our relationship picked up quickly and it didn't take long before she decided to move to the states and be with me. She took me on trips across Europe, we visited all of her relatives and friends in France, Belgium, Germany, Italy and Denmark. We stayed in many beautiful hotels, ate at lots of fancy restaurants and went shopping every now and then. She also took me around London showing me places that I would usually not know about including a few underground clubs where they played great electronic music. Having her by my side made those trips so special that in just 6 months I knew that I was ready to spend the rest of my life with her by my side.
Our wedding took place in America, even though she wasn't particularly fond of it over there, she said she preferred to live there with me than anywhere else in this world. After the wedding we moved into our new apartment in Brooklyn New York (my favorite city ever), a nice place with an elevator that worked every day and neighbors who kept their noise down as much as possible (which is not very often). Everything seemed perfect until one day when I got home from work and found our apartment door wide open with police officers standing there investigating what happened inside. I rushed through them into my home but there was nothing left inside; just some broken furniture scattered all over the living room, their drawers empty with no trace of our valuables whatsoever! The cops told me that they didn't find any evidence that someone broke into our place but they thought it was strange that no one heard anything or saw anything suspicious happening around here nor did anyone see us leaving our apartment since we didn't have any neighbors nearby to witness anything unusual taking place around here. The only thing they could tell me was that sometime during the night someone must have broken into our home while we were sleeping or away somewhere without only leaving their phone behind on the table informing whoever called or messaged us via text messages or calls that we were out of town for a week on a business trip which they claimed shouldn't be possible since they never gave us permission to go on any trip or business whatsoever since we had just moved in 2 weeks ago almost like whoever did this wasn't supposed to leave us any traces at all yet still wanting to give us a chance to check-in if needed but why would anyone go through all this trouble just for fun? The cops told me not to worry about it too much since it might be something personal between family members or friends but they still wanted to ask some questions about whether either of us had any enemies or rivals back home or abroad that may want revenge against one of us somehow but neither me nor my wife could think of anyone like that and after asking every person we knew (including her relatives) none of them seemed interested in doing such things either so eventually they let us go after telling us that most likely someone close to us must have been involved somehow but there's nothing else they can do about it unless something happens again so don't call them unless you need their help again otherwise everything is okay now so please don't worry about it anymore, thank you for your time... Yes sir... Goodbye...
That was 3 years ago now, ever since then I've tried everything within my power to find out who might have done this terrible thing but there has been absolutely no trace left behind from this event whatsoever; as if nothing happened at all despite everyone knowing about what happened back then including those police officers who talked with me outside my apartment door 3 years ago who still remember what happened back then as if nothing changed at all and those detectives are still working hard trying hard solving this mystery without leaving any clues or leads behind themselves whatsoever which is why we've decided not to call them again until they're able [to] solve this case once and for all but until then we can't wait around any longer because sometimes life goes on without waiting for answers... We need to move forward...
